Celebration in the camp
If alive after the party returns from the Goblin Camp, Alfira will be with the other tieflings getting ready to leave for the Campsite. At the celebration, she can be found talking with Lakrissa and, if spoken with, will offer to compose a song about the player character and their deeds.

If the The Dark Urge is chosen as Origin, Alfira visits the camp shortly after crossing the bridge to the Blighted Village, whether she has been spoken with or not. Regardless of the player character's choice to allow her to spend the night at camp or not, they wake up to find her disemboweled by their own hands. They can decide whether or not to hide the evidence, embrace their handiwork or be horrified by it.

To keep Alfira alive, she must be Toggle Non-Lethal Attacks in the Emerald Grove before taking the long rest that triggers her visit. If Alfira is already dead, knocked out, or otherwise unavailable immediately prior to the party's committing to a long rest, she is replaced by the dragonborn bard Quil.

This event may be delayed by others. For example, if Karlach is recruited before Wyll, his arrival takes precedence as the camp event that night and Quil will arrive the following night instead. To ensure her survival (especially in honour mode) it may be necessary to knock out Alfira more than once.

When the long rest is completed and Alfira has survived the night, she can be found where she was knocked out and met later at the camp celebration. After that she can be encountered in Act Two.

Act Two
In Act Two, Alfira can be found inside the Last Light Inn sitting by the fire at -66. If spoken to, she recounts being ambushed by cultists of the Absolute and that some of the tieflings were taken to Moonrise Towers. This starts the Rescue the Tieflings quest. Giving a hopeful response awards the Inspirational Event A Smile Better Suits... (Folk Hero background). If Lakrissa is saved along with the other tieflings, Alfira rewards the Potent Robe and other loot to the party.

If alive at the end of Act Two, Alfira can be found again at Moonrise Towers. A conversation then reveals she wants to use her music to help calm the tiefling children in the room with her. If the active character is a Bard, they can speak with her again to gain the Improved Bardic Inspiration class action; it is not necessary to perform the song.

Act Three
If surviving to Act Three, Alfira can be found on the rooftop of the Elfsong Tavern. Reuniting with her awards the Inspirational Events Finding her Stage (Entertainer background) and Safeguarding the Songbird (Folk Hero background).

If Lakrissa survived, she is waiting tables at the Elfsong, and may occasionally be found on the roof with Alfira. The two of them reveal they are dating, and that Alfira is planning on opening a bardic school.

Alfira composing a ballad

Overview[edit | edit source]

Background[edit | edit source]

Alfira is part of the group of tiefling refugees who were exiled from Elturel, and Bardic apprentice to a woman named Lihala. On the journey to the Emerald Grove, they were attacked by gnolls and Lihala was killed. Alfira has since been trying to compose a eulogy for her.

Involvement[edit | edit source]

Act One[edit | edit source]

The party can find Alfira on the hill overlooking the druidic shrine circle at the Emerald Grove. She is frustrated over a lack of progress in composing a song for her recently deceased teacher, Lihala. The party may choose to help by inspiring her.

Performing together[edit | edit source]

If a party member offers aid by performing with Alfira, they receive Lihala's lute and can attempt to play along with her:

 • [PERFORMANCE] Play along with her.  (DC 15) - followed by -
 • [PERFORMANCE] Keep time with her. (DC 10)

Succeeding both checks (one failure allows a retry) helps Alfira make significant progress in composing her song. The party member who helped her gains Musical Instruments Musical Instruments proficiency, if they did not have it already. Bards are not required to make ability checks to assist her.

Encouraging with words[edit | edit source]

If a party member offers aid by encouraging Alfira with words, she becomes inspired and a cutscene plays where she performs her near-finished song for the party. This does not reward the musical instrument proficiency.

The Weeping Dawn[edit | edit source]

After helping her in either way, she titles her song The Weeping Dawn and confesses in tears she was with her teacher Lihala when they were ambushed by gnolls, and has been struggling to create a worthy eulogy for her. The party can also gain the Inspiration Icon.pngInspirational Event A Bard's Muse (Entertainer background). Alfira remains in this location, giving her song the finishing touches and singing it periodically.

Not helping Alfira[edit | edit source]

If the player character or their companions choose not to help, they may leave, convince her to give up, insult her, or steal / destroy her lute with the following options:

 • Slip the lute into your pack.
 • [DEXTERITY] Snatch the lute out of her hands and smash it. (DC 10)
 • You want honesty? Give up - you don't have the makings of a bard.
 • You're holding yourself back. Start over with a blank slate.
 • Here. I don't have time for this.

Celebration in the camp[edit | edit source]

If alive after the party returns from the Goblin Camp, Alfira will be with the other tieflings getting ready to leave for the Campsite. At the celebration, she can be found talking with Lakrissa Lakrissa and, if spoken with, will offer to compose a song about the player character and their deeds.

After the party, Alfira leaves with the other tieflings and can be met later in Act Two.

During Raid the Emerald Grove Raid the Emerald Grove, Alfira's corpse can be found with those of the tiefling children in the Tiefling Hideout.

The Dark Urge[edit | edit source]

If the The Dark Urge The Dark Urge is chosen as Origin, Alfira visits the camp shortly after crossing the bridge to the Blighted Village, whether she has been spoken with or not. Regardless of the player character's choice to allow her to spend the night at camp or not, they wake up to find her disemboweled by their own hands. They can decide whether or not to hide the evidence, embrace their handiwork or be horrified by it.

To keep Alfira alive, she must be knocked out knocked out in the Emerald Grove before taking the long rest that triggers her visit. If Alfira is already dead, knocked out, or otherwise unavailable immediately prior to the party's committing to a long rest, she is replaced by the dragonborn bard Quil Quil.

Act Two[edit | edit source]

In Act Two, Alfira can be found inside the Last Light Inn sitting by the fire at X: -66 Y: 142. If spoken to, she recounts being ambushed by cultists of the Absolute and that some of the tieflings were taken to Moonrise Towers. This starts the Rescue the Tieflings Rescue the Tieflings quest. Giving a hopeful response awards the Inspiration Icon.pngInspirational Event A Smile Better Suits...

Act Three[edit | edit source]

If surviving to Act Three, Alfira can be found on the rooftop of the Elfsong Tavern. Reuniting with her awards the Inspiration Icon.pngInspirational Events Finding her Stage (Entertainer background) and Safeguarding the Songbird (Folk Hero background).

If Lakrissa survived, she is waiting tables at the Elfsong, and may occasionally be found on the roof with Alfira. The two of them reveal they are dating, and that Alfira is planning on opening a bardic school.

Speak with Dead[edit | edit source]

Alfira can be spoken to with Speak with Dead Speak with Dead.

Below is if Alfira was killed in camp by The Dark Urge The Dark Urge.
