Harper Essius is a confident rock gnome Harper that can be found in the Last Light Inn. Depending on player choices in Act Two, he takes part in assisting the party during the Assault on Moonrise Towers.

Involvement[edit | edit source]

Last Light Inn[edit | edit source]

Essius can be first encountered at the Last Light Inn's plaza, where can he can be seen chatting with Ulthred Ulthred next to the fountain. Whereas Ulthred might at first be skeptical and doubting of the party, Essius attempts to talk him down and be open to the party's help. As Ulthred displays some nervosity at being in the Shadow-Cursed Lands, Essius tells him that he has seen worse alleyways in Baldur's Gate.[1]

If Marcus Falgor Marcus is exposed as a True Soul, Essius is Surprised Surprised and joins the fight against his summoned Crawling Claws.

Resolve the Abduction[edit | edit source]

When Marcus attacks the inn and attempts to kidnap Isobel Isobel during Resolve the Abduction Resolve the Abduction, Essius frequently is amongst the Harpers who avoid being Impaled Impaled, and runs up to fight with the Winged Horrors. If Isobel is not saved, Essius and everyone in Last Light Inn turn into a Shadow-Cursed Undead Shadow-Cursed Undead, save for Jaheira Jaheira.

Assault Moonrise Towers[edit | edit source]

If Isobel is saved at the Last Light Inn, and once the Aylin Nightsong has been freed from her cage and heads for Moonrise Towers, Essius follow Jaheira to the Aussault of Moonrise Towers, where he, along with Harper Antony Antony, Lymn Lymn, and Naysa Naysa survives the first assault and assists the party in the remaining fight against the Absolute forces.

After the main battle, if he manages to survive the fight, he guards the first floor of Moonrise Towers with the remaining Harpers. Once Ketheric Thorm Ketheric Thorm is defeated and the party moves on to Act Three, Essius completely disappears.

    Two guards standing by a fountain, one a long-lived gnome Harper and one a rough-and-ready Flaming Fist human. The Fist is on edge and none too friendly, the Harper is calmer and more forthcoming.
