Lower City Sewers Undercity Ruins Temple of Bhaal

Undercity Ruins is a location accessible from the Lower City Sewers area of Baldur's Gate during Act Three. While inside the Lower City Sewers, the minimap name will become "Undercity Ruins" by walking north through a stone archway at roughly X: -138 Y: 907.

Entry area

At the northern most point of the city sewers is the entrance to the Undercity Ruins through a stone arch. In the area immediately after the arch is the Undercity Ruins waypoint. To the west, Voiceless Penitent Bareki has some items for sale, further on is a passageway that leads to the Ancient Lair. Behind Bareki is a pouch containing Sarin's Skull, and past the opening beyond is a hatch which is another entrance to the Ancient Lair.

The route to the rest of the area is blocked by a magical door that will only open to followers of Bhaal. See Investigate the Murders or Impress the Murder Tribunal for details on how to unlock the door.

Temple of Bhaal

Past the locked door, the party is ambushed by Bhaalists and has 4 rounds to get to Farslayer of Bhaal Ghislev, who has marked the party as targets of Power Word: Kill. One of the ambushers is Strangler Luke, who will melee the party. All the other ambushers will prefer to use magic or ranged weapons. Across the bridge, Manglin' Abby will also engage in melee, with attacks that can push characters into the chasm.

The ambush can also mostly be avoided by using stealth and cutting across the cavern to the east, just after the initial path opens up into the area.

NOTE: Be careful crossing the white bridge as the nearby archers will use Pushing Attack (Ranged) to knock you off the bridge.

Travelling east on the bridge adjacent to the "Temple of Bhaal" waypoint, the area becomes fast-travel restricted after X: -41 Y: 1006, but the minimap name will still read "Undercity Ruins". A pair of "Solid Doors", locked by special means until the Farslayer is defeated, is found at the end of the bridge.

After crossing the threshold of these doors, the party will enter the Bhaal Temple.

Bhaal Temple

Main article: Bhaal Temple

Past the bridge and through the solid doors is the Bhaal Temple, the innermost sanctum of the Cultists of Bhaal, headed by Orin the Red.

Morphic Pool Docks

After crossing the bridge and entering through the doors, following the path north will lead to a dock with a skiff, which can be used to travel to the Morphic Pool. Travelling to the Morphic Pool passes a point of no return in the story.

The dock area is also home to a swarm of Cranium Rats.
