Lower City Sewers is a location that the player can enter during Act Three from multiple different access points found throughout the Lower City area of Baldur's Gate. Entrances to the Lower City Sewers include manhole covers that are visible from the city streets, but additional passages can be found inside specific buildings.
Overview
Waypoints
This location contains the following Waypoints
Undercity Ruins X: -141 Y: 941
Entrances
- Ladder X: 46 Y: 780 Enter through a Manhole at Lower City X: 128 Y: -30 between Stormshore Tabernacle and Basilisk Gate Barracks
- Ladder X: 83 Y: 843 by interacting, leads to Manhole (Alleyway near The Glitter Gala)
- Gardener's Basement leads between the gardener's shack in Lady Jannath's Estate and the Abandoned Cistern
- Flymm Cargo Basement
- Ladder X: 52 Y: 793 Enter through a Hatch at Knights of the Shield Hideout X: -753 Y: 592 in the basement of the Elfsong Tavern
- Dripping Pipe X: 27 Y: 822 Enter through a Manhole at Heapside Prison X: -1262 Y: 740
- Cazador's Dungeon (the door is locked from the Sewer side until used from the Dungeon side)
Abandoned Cistern
While inside the Lower City Sewers, the minimap name will become "Abandoned Cistern" from multiple directions including:
- North of a "ramp" towards a broken stone wall, at roughly X: -167 Y: 864.
- West through a door, with caustic brine on the ground on the other side, near X: -155 Y: 877
The large black pipe, running in an L-shape through the middle of this room, is another good visual landmark to help players identify if they are in the right area.
While the minimap name reads "Abandoned Cistern",
- A locked Sluice Gate must be opened to access the second half of the area. It cannot be lockpicked. To open the gate, either make a DC 25 Athletics check to turn the Sluice Valve, or turn the Water Level Valve and Temperature Valve until they are both at the perfect level. Use the Emergency Release Valve if either level gets too high.
- Ladder X: -283 Y: 878 can be found past the Sluice Gate in a stone alcove at the back of the room. On interaction, causes a screen transition which leads to an area called "Gardener's Basement." This has another exit that leads to a door labeled "Keep Out" in the Lower City.
Spoiler warning! This section reveals details about the story of Baldur's Gate 3.
Guildhall
Base of operations for Baldur's Gates' infamous criminal faction, The Guild, headed by Nine-Fingers Keene.
From the Guildhall, an additional exit to the sewers can be opened if the party discovers Nine-Fingers' Secret Sewer Vault.
Undercity Ruins
While inside the Lower City Sewers, the minimap name will become "Undercity Ruins" by walking north through a stone archway at roughly X: -138 Y: 907. The waypoint of the same name is usually visible from this path. Inside the ruins is a door X: -133 Y: 934 initially closed and locked, requiring special means to open, and a passageway X: -181 Y: 935 heading west, leading to the Ancient Lair upon interaction.
