Liara Portyr is a high-ranking Blaze of the Flaming Fist (often answering directly to Duke Ulder Ravengard Ulder Ravengard himself) and the niece of Duke Dillard Portyr Dillard Portyr.

Involvement

Upon entering the main office of the Basilisk Gate Barracks, the player will encounter Lora Bergauz Lora Bergauz futilely attempting to explain to Flame Portyr that her daughter, Vanra Bergauz Vanra, has gone missing. Portyr seems to be having severe short-term memory issues and keeps forgetting what Lora has said only seconds earlier in the conversation. A successful Arcana check reveals that her memory has been magically tampered with.

Speaking to Lora and Portyr allows the party to begin the Save Vanra Save Vanra quest.

Through progressing the quest to save Vanra, it is revealed that Auntie Ethel Auntie Ethel has bewitched Portyr to prevent her from investigating Vanra's disappearance. If killing Ethel and returning to Portyr, she appears to have fully recovered save for some headaches and the vague memory of a "Fey-like creature".

Notes

  • Liara Portyr is sometimes referred to as 'Flame' rather than Blaze in various books and notes. It's unknown if these were written before she was made Blaze, if it means to suggest she was recently demoted and re-promoted, or if it's simply a mistake.
