After Gale speaks with Mystra at Stormshore Tabernacle:

    • Then, say you share his attitude towards moral issues OR say that morals be damned, he should take the power Gale approves +1

  • After asking Gale for initial information about himself, ask to tell more (Gale evades the answer), then try peering into his mind through Wisdom check. Gale disapproves -5 (Whether you succeed the check, matters not)
  • When Mizora shows up in the camp, ask her whether she will leave if you turn on Karlach Gale disapproves -1
  • When you find Gale feasting eyes on conjured image of Mystra:
    • When he says that Mystra is all creation, tell him he's deluded Gale disapproves -2 (This option is not available for Sorcerer Sorcerer avatars)
    • Playing as a Wizard Wizard, Warlock Warlock, Sorcerer Sorcerer or Bard Bard tell Gale you "practice magic, not melodrama" Gale disapproves -1

  • When the other companions find out that Astarion is a vampire:

  • Delve into Gale's mind using your tadpole to find out about his need to consume artifacts, and then:

Note: Both these choices may result in Gale permanently leaving the party, if you fail the subsequent DC 12 Persuasion check or DC 12 Insight check.
