Area Information[edit | edit source]
Mirie staffs the front desk inside the House of Grief. If Shadowheart is present in the party or the party otherwise agree to partake in a Mapping of the Heart, Mirie will escort everyone through the locked double doors to the Mapping Room. The double doors can be bypassed with the Grief Key she carries on her person.
Within the Mapping Room, a party member can undergo a brief, ritualistic interview with Viconia DeVir to have their heart "mapped". If Shadowheart is present, Viconia reveals a secret passage to the Cloister of Sombre Embrace beneath the House of Grief, which is the clandestine headquarters for Baldur's Gate's Shar worshippers, led by Mother Superior Viconia DeVir.
If the mapping was conducted without Shadowheart, then the passage reveals itself when Shadowheart enters the room. The button to open this passage can be revealed without the mapping by passing a DC 20 Investigation check or by killing the staff and guards upstairs.
