Druid Klarrvox is a dragonborn druid in Act Three. He attempts to get a dying Lower City sapling to bloom.

Involvement[edit | edit source]

Warding Off Decay[edit | edit source]

Druid Klarrvox can be found by Philgrave's Mansion and southwest of Felogyr's Fireworks at X: -8 Y: -143, where he can be seen speaking to a withering sapling and calling for Chauntea, the goddess of life and agriculture, to help him in saving the sapling. Talking with Klarrvox as a dragonborn will have him greet the party member with 'kin', and vayemniri.

Speculation[edit | edit source]

It is possible that the sapling Klarrvox is trying to save is at risk of turning into a Blight, a plant-based creature that is usually tainted by evil forces, with the ability to turn entire landscapes into desolate blight-infested wastelands.[1]

Blights originate and are created due to the influence of deep, dark, or evil forces in their premises. This evil "essence" can inherently corrupt vegetation, and either take control or wither existing healthy biomass, capable of tearing up entire buildings within days. As the sapling is located right at a crossroad between the Mummy Lord Mystic Carrion Mystic Carrion's necromantic home full of Undead and corpses, as well as down the road from the Szarr Palace's back entrance, where the Vampire Lord Cazador Szarr Cazador Szarr resides with his seven thousand Vampire spawns.

Additionally, the first known origins of blights were from a vampire by the name of Gulthias, who was staked through the heart. The stake would eventually be corrupted by the vampire's blood and foul essence, eventually turning into roots and then a series of blights.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • As it is, there are no quests, mechanics, or content related to Klarrvox or his attempts at saving the withering sapling, and thus, no possible way of aiding the druid or saving the tree.
  • Klarrvox' technical name within the engine is S_LOW_WardingOffDecay_Druid.
