“'ere! Whatcha doing? Get them sausage fingers off my crate!„
Involvement[edit | edit source]
When the party digs up the Dirt Mound, Bugthimble will pop out, telling the party to get their hands off his 'crate' which he found first. The party can respond a number of different ways. Gnome and Dragonborn characters get special dialogue.
- [DECEPTION] What are you doing in my father's grave?! (DC 25) [note 1]
- [DARK URGE] Wonder if you've ever buried someone alive. [note 2]
- [DARK URGE] Resist the temptation to put her underground. Try to leave.
- Fine, I'll go elsewhere.
- Thank goodness. You can keep it.
- [DECEPTION] Oh, just... y'know, the curse. (DC 15) [note 1]
- [INTIMIDATION] This 'crate' was promised to Nine-Fingers. You don't want to steal from her, do you? (DC 18) [note 1]
- Pleasure doing business with you.
- Sure. Now Scram.
- [INTIMIDATION] That depends. I charge a fee for not breaking your snout. (DC 25)
- Attack
- I've got enough gold, thanks. [note 3]
- I'll just take what I want from your corpse. [note 3]
- [INTIMIDATION] Hand it over or I'll bury you in that hole, kobold. (DC 25)
- [DRAGONBORN] You'd take this from a dragon kin? Despite our shared blood?
- [DRACONIC BLOODLINE] The magic of dragons flows in my veins, kobold. Do not test me.
- Attack. [note 3]
Trying to leave will cause Bugthimble to stop you and tell you to pay an extortion fee:
- All right. Fine.
- I don't have that much money! [note 3]
- Hells no! You think I'm scared of a kobold? [note 3]
- [DRAGONBORN] You'd ask this of me? We're practically kin.
- Attack. [note 3]
If Bugthimble is killed in combat, Kurwin's Cauteriser can be looted from his corpse. Making Bugthimble flee or burying him alive will prevent the party from obtaining Kurwin's Cauteriser. If Bugthimble is convinced the "crate" is Nine-Fingers and you pass the extortion intimidation check, Bugthimble will throw the Kurwin's Cauteriser at you before fleeing.

Combat[edit | edit source]
Bugthimble fights and six Kobold Holes open up - they spawn kobolds unless you block them by standing on them. The holes remain until five kobolds have spawned from each (a random mixture of kobolds, kobold scouts, or kobold inventors) or the hole is destroyed (they are targetable objects).
