Jaheira's Basement[edit | edit source]

The basement is a heavily trapped cavern. From the entrance there is a path to a small shed protected by various entrapped orbs. The traps won't go off if you have Jaheira present in your party, or can be disarmed by removing a crate from a nearby pressure plate or by hitting the orbs with damage of their respective elements.

The basement is inhabited by the Postmaster Badger and his messenger rats, who will give information on certain happenings around Baldur's Gate if using Speak with Animals Speak with Animals.

Moving a crate in the shed near the bookcase grants access to some loose planks. Under the loose planks is a key which opens the trapped bookcase revealing a secret entrance to a room hidden behind the bookcase. This is where Jaheira keeps some of her most private items. One of such is the Rite of the Timeless Body. After interacting with the scroll a dialogue with Jaheira is unlocked where she discusses her thoughts about duty, mortality, and her considerations of extending her life.

Notable characters[edit | edit source]

Jaheira's Wards[edit | edit source]

  • Fig Fig - acts as the home's "guard", stopping and questioning any new visitors. She spends her day practicing her swordsmanship against a dummy
  • Jhessem Jhessem - a small child that speaks with the decorum of nobility. She found a family tree of Jaheira that suggests that she may be royalty
  • Jord Jord - watched over Jaheira's plants, letting the plants in her study grow unimpeded. Jaheira took Jord in as a ward when he was nine years old after a confrontation with a merchant
  • Rion Rion - driven to taking action and has taken a role of leadership amongst the wards in Jaheira's absence
  • Tate Tate - described as a little "Sneak Thief" by Jaheira. He keep to himself upstairs, eavesdropping on conversations. Tate has the Pin needed to access Jaheira's Basement

Notable Loot[edit | edit source]

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • If Jaheira dies before joining the party at the end of Act Two, the house will be empty, with neither her wards nor the animals in the basement present. This means the Harp-Shaped Pin cannot be obtained from Tate and instead can be found in the large wardrobe on the upper floor of the house.
