Rhaneld is a son of a dockworker, berated and abused by an Upper City dweller. While playing in the streets, Rhaneld threw a pebble and accidentally hit a man by a name of Bastian d'Zinn, who seems to have come from the Upper City. Bastian tries to ruse up a scandal, wanting passers-by to believe the boy did his mischief intentionally and has to be punished.
