The Shadow-Cursed Lands has two points of entry; through travelling on the Rosymorn Monastery Trail, or through using an elevator in Grymforge.
Eastern locations[edit | edit source]
Ruined Battlefield[edit | edit source]
The Ruined Battlefield spans the majority of the eastern section of the Shadow-Cursed Lands. It is the first location when entering the region, encompassing a number of landmarks, such as shadow-creature ambushes and the House in Deep Shadows.
When entering the region from the Grymforge, the party will begin at the very north tip of the battlefield, closer to the Last Light Inn. Otherwise, entering from the monastery trail will place the party at the south-eastern end, closer to Rethewin Town.
Last Light Inn[edit | edit source]
The Last Light Inn is a refuge from the shadow curse, located across a small bridge north-west of the Ruined Battlefield. The Harpers and Flaming Fists are set up here, including High Harper Jaheira.
The cleric Isobel at the inn can give the party , which gives a rudimentary protection from the shadow curse. As well, if the player did not encounter the Absolutist caravan while entering the Shadow-Cursed Lands, they will begin a quest with the Harpers to obtain a Moonlantern for safe passage through the curse.
Western locations[edit | edit source]
Reithwin Town[edit | edit source]
Reithwin Town spans the majority of the western side of the Shadow-Cursed Lands. This town was previously home to worshippers of Selûne, now destroyed by Shar's curse.
The town has a number of sub-locations, including the House of Healing and the Reithwin Tollhouse. South of the town is a bridge to Moonrise Towers, north is the Grand Mausoleum, and to the east is a transition point to Baldur's Gate, which may only be used after the finale of Act Two.
Moonrise Towers[edit | edit source]
Moonrise Towers is the seat of the Absolute, located south of Reithwin Town. Like Last Light Inn, the towers are not affected by the shadow curse, due to the many moonlanterns set up around the area.
Grand Mausoleum[edit | edit source]
The Grand Mausoleum is located north of Reithwin Town, past the graveyard and House of Healing. It is owned by the Thorm family, and is the resting place of Ketheric Thorm's late wife, Melodia.
The mausoleum is notably the entrance point to the Gauntlet of Shar, a crucible for anointing Shar's Dark Justiciars.
