About Tieflings
Touched by the Hells, Tieflings are resistant to fire and carry extraordinary Infernal powers.
Racial Traits
- Ability Scores:
- +2 to any Ability Score
- +1 to any other Ability Score
- Base Racial Speed: 9 m / 30 ft
- Darkvision
Asmodeus Tieflings
Bound to Nessus, the deepest layer of the Hells, these Tieflings inherit the ability to wield fire and darkness from the archdevil Asmodeus' infernal bloodline.
Subrace Traits
- Gain the following Spells:
- Cantrip: Produce Flame (Level 1)
- 1st Level Spell: Hellish Rebuke (Level 3; Recharge: Long rest)
- 2nd Level Spell: Darkness (Level 5; Recharge: Long rest)
Mephistopheles Tieflings
Descended from the archdevil Mephistopheles, these Tieflings are gifted with a particular affinity for arcane magic.
Subrace Traits
- Gain the following Spells:
- Cantrip: Mage Hand (Level 1)
- 1st Level Spell: Burning Hands (Level 3; Recharge: Long rest)
- 2nd Level Spell: Flame Blade (Level 5; Recharge: Long rest)
Zariel Tieflings
Tieflings from Zariel's bloodlines are empowered with martial strength, and can channel searing flame to punish their enemies.
Subrace Traits
- Gain the following Spells:
- Cantrip: Thaumaturgy (Level 1)
- 1st Level Spell: Searing Smite (Level 3; Recharge: Long rest)
- 2nd Level Spell: Branding Smite (Level 5; Recharge: Long rest)

Notes
- Because Produce Flame gives the caster an action that uses the Wisdom modifier as the casting stat, the Asmodeus subrace uses the character's Wisdom modifier to hurl the flame granted by the spell, rather than Charisma, as suggested by the tooltip. This may be a bug or an oversight.
