Persuasion is a Charisma Skill used almost exclusively for dialogue Ability Checks.

Persuasion also affects the prices offered by Traders alongside their Attitude value towards the hero talking to them.

Proficiency

Characters who are proficient in Persuasion can add their Proficiency Bonus when making Ability checks.

The following backgrounds grant proficiency in Persuasion:

The following classes can choose to select Persuasion as a proficient skill at Level 1:

Warlocks who choose the Beguiling Influence Beguiling Influence Eldritch Invocation gain proficiency in Persuasion and Deception.

Uses

  • Used in dialogue.
  • Helps determine the price of good sold to and bought from merchants.

Merchant Prices

Merchant prices are calculated by either multiplying (in the case of buying) or dividing (in the case of selling) the item's value by a factor determined by:

Pricing factor = D - Persuasion/10 - Attitude/200

Where D is either 2.0, 2.5, or 3.0 depending on difficulty setting.

The game will not allow the pricing factor to reduce below 1.0 (one).
