Stay out of sight. Melt into the shadows.
Stealth is a Skill based on Dexterity. It helps you with staying hidden from enemies or other NPCs.
Stealth Checks benefit from your Dexterity Modifier, and if you have Proficiency in Stealth, also from your Proficiency Bonus.
Proficiency
Characters who are proficient in Stealth can add their Proficiency Bonus when making Ability checks.

Disadvantage on Skill Checks
With the exception of the following items, all Heavy Armour and all variations of Padded Armour, Scale Mail and Half Plate Armour provide Disadvantage on Stealth checks.
- Unwanted Masterwork Scalemail Scale Mail with no Disadvantage on Stealth checks.
- Yuan-Ti Scale Mail Scale Mail with no Disadvantage on Stealth checks.
- Armour of Agility Half Plate Armour with no Disadvantage on Stealth checks.
- Helldusk Armour Heavy Armour with no Disadvantage on Stealth checks.
- Protective Plate Plate Armour with no Disadvantage on Stealth checks.
