The higher a creature's Intelligence Score, the more likely they will succeed on History Checks to recall history on a particular topic.

Proficiency[edit | edit source]

Characters who are proficient in History can add their Proficiency Bonus when making Ability checks.

The following backgrounds grant proficiency in History:

The following classes can choose to select History as a proficient skill at Level 1:

Rock Gnomes add twice their Proficiency Bonus Proficiency Bonus to History checks.

Rangers who choose Ranger Knight as a Favoured Enemy gain proficiency in History.

Knowledge domain Clerics can choose to gain proficiency in History at Level 1. If chosen, they can add double their Proficiency Bonus when making History checks.
