If Minthara pretends her mind is broken, passing a final Intimidation, Deception, or Persuasion Check (DC 18) convinces Sumera and Jasin to leave. A failure of any check leads to either fighting against the Inquisitors or allowing Minthara's mind to be erased.
If you avoided starting a mass fight, Minthara can then be found down some stairs and in the Moonrise Towers Prison; a quest marker notes her exact location. You'll find Questioner Sumera and Questioner Jasin attempting to break and erase her mind. You can allow them do so and bring the quest to an early close, attack them, or attempt a Deception (DC 10) or Intimidation (DC 14) Check to allow you to step in and take over.

If you attack them, Minthara will assist in the fight as an NPC. After they're both down, Minthara will ask you to escort her out of Moonrise. You can agree, in which case continue to the next section, or you can tell Minthara you're just here to kill her yourself. Unsurprisingly, the latter will lead to a fight.
The Dark Urge will gain the Inspiration titled Soulful Lobotomy if they personally erase Minthara's mind.

If freed, regardless of methods used, Minthara must be escorted out of Moonrise Towers. It is not possible to go to camp or use a waypoint to do this; the party and Minthara must leave on foot.

# Convince her to pretend her mind's broken.
If released from Sumera and Jasin's inquisition, Minthara becomes an Attached Follower to the player character; she cannot be equipped with gear, but can be controlled with her (unarmed) attacks and spells.
# Tell her to fight with you.
# Erase her mind.

Assuming you didn't erase her mind, Minthara will now join you. If you had Minthara pretend her mind was broken, a final Intimidation, Deception, or Persuasion Check (DC 18) will convince Sumera and Jasin to leave. If you did erase Minthara's mind, the check won't be necessary, although obviously the quest will be over.

From here, you need to escort Minthara out of Moonrise, though she won't yet take up a full party slot. It's possible to just walk out, although you'll need to pass your choice of Intimidation, Deception, or Persuasion Checks with:
* The two guards guarding the front door to Moonrise (DC 14 in all cases)

* The guard just outside Minthara's cell (Intimidation DC 14, Deception DC 16, Persuasion DC 14)
Alternatively, the party may try to avoid these encounters, such as with Stealth or by casting Invisibility (spell) on Minthara. One possibile path is heading north-east from the docks and then crossing the broken section of the pathway by using Jump.

Walkthrough[edit | edit source]

Reunions[edit | edit source]

If Minthara survived Act One the party can encounter her in Moonrise Towers, where she is judged by Ketheric Thorm Ketheric Thorm and Z'rell Disciple Z'rell. Regardless of success or failure with any checks, Minthara is ultimately taken away to be killed unless the party attacks.

Fighting to free Minthara[edit | edit source]

If attacking, all characters of Moonrise turn hostile, starting a tough fight. Minthara must then be escorted out, although she fights with the party as an ally. Using skill checks to talk the way past Tower occupants is then not possible anymore and Infiltrate Moonrise Towers Infiltrate Moonrise Towers cannot be completed.

Avoiding the fight and speaking to the Inquisitors[edit | edit source]

Minthara's mind being "erased" by Sumera and Jasin.

If the party avoided the fight, Minthara can then be found downstairs in Moonrise Towers Prison. The Deep Gnomes Questioner Sumera Questioner Sumera and Questioner Jasin Questioner Jasin are in the process of breaking and, ultimately, ereasing her mind. They can be allowed to do so and bring the quest to an early end. Otherwise passing a DC 10 Deception check or a DC 14 Intimidation check allows the player character to step in and take over.

Attacking the Inquisitors[edit | edit source]

If attacking Sumera and Jasin, Minthara assists in the fight as an ally of the party. After they are both defeated, she asks to be escorted out of Moonrise.

Talking to Minthara[edit | edit source]

If the party steps in and takes over, Minthara is initially unable to talk as she battles The Absolute, which is trying to possess her mind. Passing a DC 18 Wisdom check allows communication with her and either:

 • Convincing her to pretend her mind is broken
 • Telling her to fight with the party
 • Erasing her mind

If Minthara pretends her mind is broken, passing a final Intimidation Intimidation, Deception Deception, or Persuasion Persuasion Check (DC 18) convinces Sumera and Jasin to leave. A failure of any check leads to either fighting against the Inquisitors or allowing Minthara's mind to be erased.

The Dark Urge will gain the Inspiration titled Soulful Lobotomy if they personally erase Minthara's mind.

The great escape[edit | edit source]

If freed, regardless of methods used, Minthara must be escorted out of Moonrise Towers. It is not possible to go to camp or use a waypoint to do this; the party and Minthara must leave on foot.

If released from Sumera and Jasin's inquisition, Minthara becomes an Attached Follower to the player character; she cannot be equipped with gear, but can be controlled with her (unarmed) attacks and spells.

It is not recommended to instruct Minthara to wait, because this can trigger a bug which makes Minthara uninteractable.[1]

If no fight broke out before, then it is possible to walk out with Minthara peacefully. This requires a selection of ability checks with:

Alternatively, the party may try to avoid these encounters, such as with Stealth Stealth or by casting Invisibility Invisibility on Minthara. One possibile path is heading north-east from the docks and then crossing the broken section of the pathway by using Jump Jump.

If the prison guards are already dead but the Ironhand gnomes have not been freed yet, completing Rescue Wulbren Rescue Wulbren and escaping by boat offers an escape route where convincing only one guard is required.

Afterwards[edit | edit source]

Once Minthara has left Moonrise Towers' boundaries, she can be spoken to and either told to go her own way or head to camp where she can finally be recruited as Companion.[2]

Reward[edit | edit source]

Aside from loot and combat XP, only successfully escorting Minthara out offers the following rewards.

If Minthara was given the camp's location
 • 145 XP
 • Minthara Minthara as a companion
 • Characters with the Noble or Urchin background will gain inspiration, if Minthara is recruited on wrap up.
If Minthara escaped but went her own way
 • 65 XP

Notes[edit | edit source]

 1. There is a bug that can occur if, after saving Minthara from the deep gnome questioners, she is asked to stay and wait in the prison until the party members come back to her. She then cannot be interacted with anymore, because the dialog for this has not been assigned to her correctly. Also under this circumstance (of approaching her again after first being asked to wait), if one goes inside Minthara's mind and tells her to fight with the party, the dialog will not automatically fire as expected - immediately after combat, so there is then no way to talk to her at all. To circumvent this, it is recommended to free Minthara peacefully (without any fight through passing the persuasion, deception, or intimidation checks) when talking to the deep gnome questioners and then immediately lead her out of the prison without any delay.
 2. Be aware that if Minthara is recruited as a companion and returns to Moonrise Towers while Ketheric Thorm is still alive, and she is not near the player character or another tadpole-infected companion, she will (whether disguised or not) be attacked if seen by tower guards or other principal followers of the Absolute. If other party members are nearby, they may be drawn into the conflict as well. The exact range required to avoid a fight is not yet known, but if avoiding a fight is desired, it is recommended that companion Minthara remain within sight of a tadpole-infected chaperone while in Moonrise Towers.
