A trap is a hidden danger that can cause sudden unwanted conditions and/or damage.

Involvement[edit | edit source]

A vent that spews toxic gas or a Glyph of Warding: Lightning Glyph of Warding: Lightning that zaps creatures that trip it are both examples of traps.

The Perception skill is used to detect traps and a Trap Disarm Toolkit along with the Sleight of Hand skill is used to disarm traps. Vents can also be disabled by placing a heavy enough object on-top of them.

Some traps will be visible without a Perception check, but unless a character detects them they cannot be disarmed and can only be avoided.
