Encountering Voss
Kith'rak Voss initially approaches the party as part of Discover the Artefact's Secrets and Lae'zel's personal quest, The Githyanki Warrior. He is briefly seen in the Mountain Pass, where he refers the party to seek out the Githyanki Crèche inside Rosymorn Monastery.
When the party has entered the Crèche and confronted Vlaakith, Voss approaches their camp. There, he tells the party to help the person in the Astral Prism as much as they can. He says he and his warriors are going to Baldur's Gate and they should meet with him at Sharess' Caress
Once the party has reached Sharess' Caress in Wyrm's Crossing, they can speak with the proprietor, Mamzell Amira. She can be asked what she has to offer. Amira mentions that a devil is in residence - Raphael. At the bar, Korrilla is also around, informing the party that Raphael wishes to speak with them. They both refer the party to the upper floor of the tavern.
At the top floor is the Devil's Den, and Raphael. Kith'rak Voss is inside trying to deal with Raphael, but Raphael sends him away. Voss tells the party he will wait outside to hear how their conversation with Raphael went. Raphael does indeed have a proposition for the party. He is in possession of the Orphic Hammer - a tool that can break the cage that holds Orpheus. In return, he wants the Crown of Karsus, which is being used to control the Elder Brain, once the party defeats it.
Obtaining the Hammer
Raphael's proposal can either be rejected or accepted, as part of Deal with the Devil. If it's rejected, he states that he will remain at Sharess' Caress for some time in case they change their mind. If the deal is accepted, he will create a Soul-Sworn Contract and the party instantly feels a pang of regret, starting Escape the Deal. In this instance, Raphael immediately relinquishes the Hammer to the party.
There is also the option to steal the Orphic Hammer, by pursuing the quest Free Orpheus.
Showing the Hammer to Voss
If the party signs the deal with Raphael, they can show it to Voss immediately. Voss gifts the party a Silver Sword of the Astral Plane, a mighty weapon and a precious cultural item of the Githyanki. He then departs to prepare his forces to take on the Elder Brain.
If the party refuses the deal, Voss relocates to the Lower City Sewers near the Undercity Ruins waypoint. There, he waits for the party and will grant them the sword before leaving to gather his forces.
