Minthara can be romanced.

Act 1[edit | edit source]

If the party agrees with Minthara's attack on the Emerald Grove and successfully raids the grove, the player character will meet her at the party in camp, where she will offer a night of sex. Should the player character accept, the two meet later that night at the campsite altar.

After sex, the player character wakes up with a naked Minthara in their arms. They can then choose to use their illithid powers to probe her mind, which she will disapprove of. Or, if the player character is The Dark Urge origin they can choose to give in to the urge and kill her, granting the player character her Mind Flayer tadpole.

If the player character chooses to have sex with Minthara and is holding the Mysterious Artefact, afterward Minthara will admit to the player character that she did not feel the presence of the Absolute and confess that she felt strangely comfortable in her moment free from it.

Later in the night, as long as Minthara is still alive and regardless of whether or not the player character chose to have sex with her, Minthara confesses she has been ordered to kill the player character. The player character can then attempt to dissuade Minthara from this. If the player character succeeds, she will recommend they not go to the Goblin Camp again due to them having the same orders to kill the player character. She bids farewell until they meet again. Minthara may also say the Absolute had initially given orders for the player character to be killed but will, if confronted, explain the Absolute spoke to her and asked her to spare the player character in order for them to prove themselves by going to Moonrise Towers.

Act 2-3[edit | edit source]

If saved (see Minthara and Decide Minthara's Fate Decide Minthara's Fate) Minthara can join the party and the partner track can begin. Romantic relationship with the drow in Acts Two and Three is a separate arc from the potential night of passion in Act 1.

After being saved, Minthara says that despite being under the influence of the Absolute during the Act One, her desire to spend the night with them was her own. She can agree that she and the player may do it in the future again, but this conversation does not lead to the start of the love track.

For the romance to begin approval rate at least 30 is necessary. As soon as this threshold is reached, Minthara prompts a dialogue at the camp. At the start of the conversation Minthara prods the player character's mind, then apologize for it. If interested in evolving the relationship, the player must ask her to open her mind to them, too, or ask about her sudden interest in their thoughts. Minthara then confesses that she was not expecting to meet someone who would understand her (her description of the player character differs depending on their race and subrace, i.e. "someone on the surface", "someone among Lolth's faithful", etc.).

To start the romance, the player should choose the option to open their mind to the drow, then imagine Minthara as "a lover", and end the conversation with answers "There's nothing I'd like more" or "This will be a good life".

However, if choosing to see her as "an ally", "a friend" or "a survivor", it is still possible to engage in romantic line with her, choosing the line "I want you too" in response to her claiming "all of you". The only option here that irrevocably ruins the possibility of starting a romance is to imagine Minthara as a "monster".

If the correct options are chosen, the dialogue ends with Minthara promising to spend nights with the player character from now on. However, there are no romantic cutscenes specifically provided for the drow.

As the romantic partnership with Minthara can only be started comparatively late in the game walkthrough, she considers the player character to be in a firm relationship with her right after the specific dialog in the camp, described above. Hence, the partnered stage with her starts automatically, omitting the flirting stage. If the player character is currently in the flirting stage with other companion(s) when triggering this dialogue, the other romanced companion will ask you about it afterwards and make you choose between them and Minthara. Likewise, if the player tries to strengthen their relationship with another companion after they begin to partner Minthara, she will prompt them to make the ultimate choice.

Also, if the player character has already been partnered with any other companion, this is the point where they may change their choice into romancing Minthara instead.

Though the player might ask and hear Minthara out about joining the cult of the Absolute and her opinion about Ketheric Thorm Ketheric Thorm, these conversations do not push the relationship further. The romance with Minthara can only be advanced upon entering Act Three and reaching Rivington.

From the beginning of the Act Three, if Minthara's approval rate is high enough and the partnered stage of relationship with the player character has been enabled, regular dialogues with her start featuring the option "Can I kiss you?". Choosing it activates small kissing cutscenes, provided for the drow in several variations, like with other companions.

After one or several episodes of sharing a kiss with Minthara, a unique dialogue with her might follow. The drow apologies about the player character feeling somewhat wrong after kissing her and explains that the reason might be a slight trace of poison that remained on her lips. If the player decides to pursue the theme, Minthara will explain that she is using various toxins to train her body in enduring them. The scene does not bring any approval, nor does it have any impact onto relationship with the drow, but it helps to understand Minthara's character better.

In Rivington, in the Circus of the Last Days, the player can take the love test offered by the dryad Zethino Zethino with Minthara, and the drow's response is positive if the player answers two or more questions correct. Note that unless being partnered with Minthara, she will agree to undertake the test with the player character only if having the approval rate 50+ with them.

As with some other companions, Minthara has some answers that are considered correct for the purposes of the test, but might earn her disapproval (see her approval page)

  • 1st question: Only the answer about "killing her siblings" is considered wrong
  • 2nd question: All answers are considered correct, though some might bring disapproval
  • 3rd question: Only the answer "Being captured by the Absolute" is considered correct.
