Involvement[edit | edit source]

Act One[edit | edit source]

Ephren is encountered at the Waukeen's Rest inn, together with several other recruits - Aelis (Fist Recruit) Fist Recruit Aelis, Ito Fist Recruit Ito, Pavel Fist Recruit Pavel and Tristan Fist Recruit Tristan, as well as Dain Gauntlet Dain and Yeva Gauntlet Yeva. She can be seen kneeling in front of the dead body of Jacek Flaming Fist Jacek, uttering a prayer[1].

Ephren was part of the squad accompanying Ulder Ravengard Duke Ulder Ravengard on his way from Elturel and staying at the inn when it was attacked by a horde of goblins and drow.

If a party member decides to talk to her, they can ask a few questions on the attack, offer condolences or comment on the situation, depending on their character's class. Clerics Clerics of Helm Helm have also an option to join Ephren's prayer.

However, if the chosen party member is a Lolth-Sworn Drow Lolth-Sworn Drow, Ephren considers them an attacker and has to be convinced otherwise, or fought. The player character then has several options that might placate the Fist:

  • [DETECT THOUGHTS] [INTELLIGENCE] I am no monster - I mean no harm to you. Tell me what happened here.
  • [INTIMIDATION] Think carefully, colnbluth [2]. Do you truly wish to anger Lolth's favoured? (DC 5)
  • [BARBARIAN] [INTIMIDATION] Go on, try it. (DC 5 Advantage Icon.png)
  • [BERSERKER] [INTIMIDATION] TRY IT, WEAKLINGS. (DC 5 Advantage Icon.png)
  • [PERSUASION] Be at ease. I didn't come seeking battle. (DC 5)

If successful, Ephren asks the party to speak to Gauntlet (not clear which one) and leave her to her mourning. If the party undertake the task of rescuing all possible survivors (notably, Florrick Counsellor Florrick) from the burning building, Ephren does not participate, remaining near Jacek's body, and stays there even after Florrick commands the Fist to search for Duke Ravengard, and all other Fists depart.

Act Three[edit | edit source]

In Act Three, Ephren is only mentioned by Roger Highberry Roger Highberry (if he survived the encounter with the serial killer at the Wine Festival). Sorting the correspondence, Roger finds a letter from Ephren, obviously bringing the word for Molly Molly the Orphan about her father's death.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  1. If asked about Jacek, Ephren tell the player character that it was she who persuaded him to join the order. However, Jacek is titled a "Fist" (a private in order's ranks), while Ephren is still a "recruit"
  2. A generalizing term in drow language for all non-drow races
