Overview[edit | edit source]

Background[edit | edit source]

Priestess Gut is one of the spiritual leaders of the cult. She is one of three leaders at the Shattered Sanctum, alongside Minthara Minthara and Dror Ragzlin Dror Ragzlin.

Involvement[edit | edit source]

Act One[edit | edit source]

Gut can be found in the main hall of the Shattered Sanctum. She offers all party members the Brand of the Absolute, which can grant permanent bonuses.

The party can follow her to the chapel and attack her or comply with her wishes. If the party comply, she will give them a potion to make them fall asleep, and wake up imprisoned. If the player character drinks the potion as an elf, drow or half-elf, their Fey Ancestry Fey Ancestry prevents the potion's effects, which causes Gut to attack immediately. Additionally, a paladin's resolve will enable a Constitution Ability check to resist the effects of the potion.

If the party are imprisoned and fail the respective checks to free themselves, they are rescued by a dwarven warlock named Korrilla Korrilla at the service of Raphael Raphael, who will instantly kill Gut and Polma Polma.

To complete the quest Defeat the Goblins Defeat the Goblins Gut must be killed. Alternatively the the quest can also be completed while ignoring her. First Halsin must be freed in the Worg Pens but left there. Then, after agreeing with Minthara to seize the grove, the party must talk to Halsin in the Worg Pens and then immediately travel to the Emerald Grove. All this must be done without any long rest.

At the Emerald Grove the party must side with the Tiefling defenders. If the goblin forces are defeated and Minthara is killed or knocked out, then the quests Rescue the Druid Halsin and Defeat the Goblins Defeat the Goblins will be completed without killing Dror Ragzlin and Gut.

(If the fight gets too close to them)

Encounter details[edit | edit source]

Priestess Gut can be fought in one of two locations: in the main hall where the party first meet her or in her private chapel after the party have chosen certain dialogue options. In her chapel, Gut will be completely alone; however, on her first turn in combat (if she is still alive) she will use Call for Help Call for Help to call for backup from the other goblins.

Tactics[edit | edit source]

Gut can be defeated easily in several ways. If the party have high damage and initiative, they can kill Gut before she uses Call for Help Call for Help. She may attempt to use Shield Shield to help herself survive, but the party can force her to use her reaction on an opportunity attack before they attack her themselves.

Alternatively, the party can cast Silence Silence around Gut to prevent her from calling reinforcements. She can still flee from the spell's area, but if the party group up around her, she is forced to take multiple opportunity attacks if she attempts to leave the spell's area.
