“It won't bring the dead back... but that felt good.„
Involvement
Act One
Arka is initially seen fighting on the Emerald Grove ramparts when the Goblin party chase Aradin, Barth, and Remira to the front gates of the Grove. Her brother, Kanon, is mortally shot by Goblin arrows while attempting to open the gate. After the conflict ends, she remains at her brother's corpse while her friend Memnos attempts to console her. Regardless of what the player character says or if they leave the area, Arka will grab a nearby crossbow and run toward the imprisoned goblin Sazza to enact vengeance.
The execution
The party can find Arka in the Makeshift Prison taking aim at Sazza while Memnos tries to calm her down. The player character can watch the bloody scene unfold or intervene in the execution by stepping in front of the crossbow and passing any of the following:
- [BARBARIAN] [INTIMIDATION] ROAR. (DC 10 )
- [DETECT THOUGHTS] [INTELLIGENCE] Read the tiefling's thoughts. (DC 12)
- [PERSUASION] No, shoot me. Should be easy, right? (DC 10)
- [PERSUASION] This won't avenge Kanon. It won't change anything. (DC 10)
If Detect Thoughts fails, Arka and Memnos become Temporarily Hostile and initiate combat.
If the Intimidation or one of the Persuasion rolls fail, the player character can make another roll that they did not choose before. If that roll also failed, both Arka and Memnos become hostile.
On a successful roll, Sazza is spared.
If Arka did not enact revenge on Sazza, she can be found mourning with Memnos near Kanon's grave after the defeat of the goblins in the Goblin Camp.
If she is not talked out of seeking revenge and is allowed to kill Sazza her dead body can be found in the Forest at X: -44 Y: 408, just east of the Goblin Camp.
If the party travel to the Mountain Pass or Shadow-Cursed Lands before resolving Kagha's Rite of Thorns, the Tieflings will be expelled from the Emerald Grove and Arka's corpse can be found among the pile of refugees near the bridge to the Blighted Village.
