Barcus Wroot is a Deep Gnome NPC in Baldur's Gate 3. He can be first found at Blighted Village and can later become a Camp Follower.
Act 1
Spoiler warning! This section reveals details about the story of Baldur's Gate 3.
The player will encounter Barcus tied to a windmill being harassed by a group of Goblins led by Fezzerk. If the Goblins are defeated or convinced to leave, Barcus will demand to be untied. The player must pull the 'Brake' lever located inside the windmill, otherwise Barcus will be shot through the sky due to inertia, and die.
If rescued, depending on the player's Race, Barcus will either surrender himself as a slave or ask the player what to give them as a reward. He will explain he is looking for a friend who has gone missing. He will then take his leave.
He will be found again at Grymforge, where he has been enslaved by Duergar led by Nere. If freed again, he will tell the player the person he is looking for is his friend Wulbren, who has been taken to Moonrise Towers. Barcus can then be convinced to join the Camp on the way to Moonrise Towers, and become a Camp Follower.
Trivia
- One of the possible deaths for Barcus was shown in the Baldur's Gate 3 Video Game Awards trailer due to its popularity.
