Lower City
Wyrm's Rock Fortress
Wyrm's Crossing
Wyrm's Rock Fortress is a region in Act Three of Baldur's Gate 3.

Overview[edit | edit source]

When the party approaches the Wyrm's Rock Fortress for the first time, the drawbridge leading inside will be lifted due to extreme safety measures for the coronation of Enver Gortash. The passage is guarded by several Flaming Fist and a Steel Watcher. However, there are several ways to get past the guards:

Alternatively, the party can walk around the patrol, by, for example, jumping down from the Wyrm's Crossing side onto the rocky footing of the fortress at X: 27 Y: 158.

Entering Wyrm's Rock Fortress for the first time earns following Inspiration Icon.pngInspirational Events, depending on the way the party chose:

  • Convincing the Flaming Fist patrol into letting you in - Rock-Solid Alibi (Charlatan Background), Multipass (Noble Background)
  • Getting in without a pass - Procedures be Damned (Noble background), Through Nooks and Crannies (Urchin Background).

Wyrm's Rock Fortress is connected to the south to Wyrm's Crossing, and to the north to the Lower City. Behind the drawbridge starts a tunnel that goes throughout the fortress to the Lower City, guarded by three Steel Watchers and yet another Flaming Fist patrol in the far end.

Ground level[edit | edit source]

The ground level of the fortress consists of two parts, located to the both sides of the tunnel. To the right there is the door to the Audience Hall. However, the Audience Hall itself is located on the second floor. The first floor here is given to the mess hall and the kitchen. When first visiting the fortress, the party will see in the mess hall several patriars' bodyguards and attendants waiting for their masters to descend.

To the left there are two doors, where the Flaming Fist are quartered. The southern door leads into kind of a reception room, while the northern opens into barracks. The plaque near the latter door tells it to be for authorized personnel only, but nevertheless the door is not red-outlined.

In the reception room the party will find several citizens waiting to be judged for transgressions, and also Quartermaster Arkleia Oloril Arkleia Oloril sitting behind the counter. She can be convinced to show her stock of goods. Successfully convincing her earns theInspiration Icon.pngInspirational Event Nothing's Not for Sale (Charlatan background).

Wyrm's Rock Prison can be accessed from the reception room through the stairs in the far corner.

In the barracks the party can find several Fists resting after duties - all but one, Reynash Fist Reynash, who tries to lockpick others' personal chests to steal something valuable. The party can choose to deal with Reynash or to wake other guards and resolve the situation with them. Depending on party's choices, they might earn Inspiration Icon.pngInspirational Event

  • Intimidate/blackmail the thief - Easing His Leave, and His Pockets (Urchin background)
  • Turn in the thief - Court Marshal (Soldier background)

Audience hall[edit | edit source]

When visiting the upper floor for the first time, the party will make it in time for the ceremony of ordaining Enver Gortash Enver Gortash as an Archduke of Baldur's Gate. Upon noticing the party, Gortash will interrupt the procedure to have a chat with them. Within the dialogue, the party will be offered a choice to strike an alliance with Gortash. Witnessing the ceremony earns Inspiration Icon.pngInspirational Events Personal Invitation (Entertainer background) and Coronation of the Dreadmaster (Sage background), while agreeing to make an alliance earns Shaking Bane's Hand (Acolyte background).

Roof[edit | edit source]

Gortash's personal quarters are located in a large structure in the center of the roof. They can be accessed either from inside (through the door in north-west corner of the Audience Hall), or from outside the fortress itself, using scaffolds and ladders attached to the walls, as well as various means of spatial movement (Grant Flight Grant Flight, Misty Step Misty Step or Dimension Door Dimension Door spells and the like).

Helldusk Boots and Servitor of the Black Hand Gloves, as well as High Security Vault n°5 Key can be found in guarded chests and in the wall safe inside.
