Minsc was ambushed and injured, and was only just recovering when Boo appeared. Boo declared that Minsc had felt the "poking finger of justice", marking Minsc as its champion and Boo as his guide.
 
After the events of {{FRWiki|Shadows of Amn}}, both Boo and Minsc were ambushed by an unknown assailant and petrified in the middle of the marketplace in the [[Upper City]] in [[Baldur's Gate]]. They were released 80 years later, when Delina, a wild mage, accidentally struck the statue with a wild magic surge.

Boo is the familiar and companion of Minsc Minsc. He is a miniature giant space hamster who Minsc can summon with Find Familiar: Boo Find Familiar: Boo.

Boo is the one of the only beasts the player character cannot understand even while using Speak with Animals. However, Minsc asserts that Boo "speaks of much" and that maybe one day the player will be able to understand him.
