== Heavy Armour Master ==
Hey Raelin, I saw you reverted your edit but I wanted to add some reasoning as to why I placed the note on the page. I had a discussion with user Pjotr of the East who did not realize that there is a difference between non-magical and magical damage, as tagged in the damage code. Heavy Armour Master states it reduces non-magical damage, but this isn't the whole truth as it only reduces non-magical Slash, Bludgeoning, and Piercing damage. It does not reduce non-magical damage from any of the other element types (fire, lightning, force, etc). I felt this edit was needed to point out that it only affects 3 out of the 13 damage types, despite what the in-game description says. == Removing videos on weapon action pages ==
Hi, I've noticed you've been removing videos on weapon action pages that another editor has been adding. While they are need to be formatted better in the article, I do not believe they should be simply removed. There is plenty of precedent for these videos (e.g. Burning Hands).
There is not currently a video field for weapon actions like for spells, but I am adding it. Until then, I ask that you refrain from simply reverting good-faith edits like these. NtCarlson (talk) 20:48, 8 February 2025 (CET)
:I looked at burning hands. The format is easier on the eyes. Try a page that way. As it stands now, it's quite unseemly. Raelin (talk) 20:53, 8 February 2025 (CET)
:understood. I will stop. Raelin (talk) 21:06, 8 February 2025 (CET)
:I can restore them, if you feel that is best. Raelin (talk) 21:08, 8 February 2025 (CET)
::The weapon action page should now have a corresponding video field which matches the spell page's styling. For now I think it is best to keep the videos, but move them into the proper field. There is definitely room for more discussion to be had on the topic, but I feel it is best not to blanket undo the contributions of new editors NtCarlson (talk) 21:20, 8 February 2025 (CET)
:::Thank you for those changes. Your approach is friendlier and makes more sense at several levels; I'll keep it front-of-mind for the future. Raelin (talk) 21:25, 8 February 2025 (CET)
== Multiclassing and unlocked spell variants ==
Hey Raelin, the original casts to spells that subsequently grant free variants correctly use the spellcasting ability modifier of the class under which the spell is learned. Only the unlocked variant spells incorrectly use the last obtained spellcasting ability modifier from multiclassing. Rydiak (talk) 02:49, 10 February 2025 (CET)
:My apologies. | |||
:Is there a way to rephrase all of this this in a way that is clearer to the reader?
:I, for example, am still not sure what you mean. If I don't understand, it's not unreasonable to assume others may have difficulty as well. Raelin (talk) 02:55, 10 February 2025 (CET)
::I'll work on better wording later. Rydiak (talk) 02:59, 10 February 2025 (CET)
:::I did one with eyebite. Please let me know if this communicates what you intended. Raelin (talk) 03:02, 10 February 2025 (CET)
::::That edit still isn't quite correct. After you cast Eyebite once you are granted three Eyebites that cast for free. These are the ones that use a bugged SourceSpellDC. Rydiak (talk) 03:03, 10 February 2025 (CET)
:::::I'm still not understanding the specifics of what you mean. If I'm hearing you correctly, casting the source spell the allows one free casting of each specific variant and if these are not all done before multiclassing, the unused variants work with the new modifier. Is that correct? Or do I still have it wrong... Raelin (talk) 03:09, 10 February 2025 (CET)
::::::I take 11 levels in Warlock and lastly 1 level in Cleric. Because Cleric was my last new class, my spellcasting modifier is Wisdom. I cast Eyebite from my Warlock spellbook, and it uses Charisma because that is the spellcasting modifier from the Warlock spellbook. Eyebite then grants me 3 versions of its variants that are free of any spellslot costs. I cast one of these three free variants. Because this is a granted spell, independent of any spellbook, it uses my character spellcasting modifier, which is Wisdom. These three free Eyebite spells therefore use Wisdom, not Charisma as the original cast of Eyebite did.
::::::This is the behavior for all spells which grant a "recast" spell. I hope that helps clear things up. Rydiak (talk) 03:14, 10 February 2025 (CET)
:::::::I'm still confused. AFAIK, only wizards use spellbooks. So if a level 10 warlock casts this spell and uses all three variations recasting before multiclassing, then does as you describe with 2 cleric levels and uses more the recasting as a cleric, will it still move to a clerics WIS for the modifier? Raelin (talk) 03:19, 10 February 2025 (CET)
::::::::Every class technically uses a spellbook, that when they learn a new spell it gets placed into it. Spells use from that spellbook use the spellcasting ability of the class. Spells used outside of a spellbook used the spellcasting ability of that last class they took. Rydiak (talk) 03:23, 10 February 2025 (CET)
:::::::::If I'm understanding this correctly, any recasting of any spell uses the new spellcasting class' DC, regardless of whether it was done before with the old class. I thought this was the case with all spells cast when multiclassing, but I'm hearing you say this only applies to recastings. Is this right? Raelin (talk) 03:31, 10 February 2025 (CET)
::::::::::Don't get hung up on the word "recasting" though. I am referring to casting the new spell that gets granted to the caster AFTER having cast the original spell.
::::::::::Heat Metal -> Reapply Heat Metal
::::::::::Call Lightning -> Activate Call Lightning
::::::::::These are the spells that use the spellcasting ability modifier of the character (set by the last multiclass) as opposed to the spellcasting ability modifier of the class that the spell originates from. Rydiak (talk) 03:34, 10 February 2025 (CET)
:::::::::::That's what I thought you meant. I appreciate your taking the time to walk me through to an understanding.
:::::::::::In my opinion, this could be a new webpage or an addition to a spellcasting webpage that addresses the issue of granted spells.

== Scrolls == | |||
Hey Raelin, I saw you reverted the notes to the scrolls that can't be transcribed to a Wizard's spellbook.
I'd like to point out that:
1. Spells from scrolls, such as Scroll of Artistry of War, Scroll of Dethrone and Scroll of Summon Quasit are not on Wizard's spell list either, but they can be copied.
2. It is not stated anywhere (as far as I know) that there are exceptions in the Spell Scribing mechanic, and most players would expect that if there is a scroll, it can be scribed. Also, we shouldn't expect an average player to remember at all times which spell is on Wizard's spell list, and which isn't. Bohdan (talk) 10:53, 11 February 2025 (CET)
:Those are good points. I'll undo my removals, but notes should probably be added to yours; it's not realistic to expect to be able to scribe a cleric , druid or ranger spell to a wizard's spell book. But, as you say, those playing without prior D&D experience wouldn't know. Raelin (talk) 16:19, 11 February 2025 (CET)

Image Feedback[edit source]
Hi Raelin!
First up, thank you so much for your edits and contributing to the wiki! We want to give you some feedback and clarification, on how we use images on the wiki.
Image Naming Conventions:
Our images follow a fixed format - Prefix_name_suffix.fileformat.png/.webp
. Right now, your images have their default Windows assigned name. If you are unsure how to change image names when uploading them, shoot me a message and I'm happy to help! Dont worry about the images you've added so far, we'll move those around to match. You can find more info here.
Image Usage:
The goal is for images to be used for informative and educational purpose, not as mere decorations to a page, always focussed on the subject they are representing. As an example, this image, you've added on Wylls page to showcase his lack of horns - and while that is the case, the image shows a lot more, different things at all once, making it difficult to instantly focus on what it shows. You can find more info here.
Modded Content:
The last point is sort of on us, since we've noticed that it isnt specified in our style guides, which is on our to-do to change. But in general, modded content that shows items/colors/etc that isnt available in the base game, should be avoided - unless it's very much in the background. Example here being again the previously mentioned picture, with Minthara wearing a modded armor (at least if I identified it correctly).
None of this is meant as a your contributions are wrong, but a helping hand. We'll correct some of the images you've posted in the coming days and will add the mentioned notes to our images guidelines for clarity. If you have any questions, reach out via our Discord server, reply here to post a message on my talk page!
~Valk - Valk (talk) 00:28, 12 January 2025 (CET)
- Greetings Valk, and thank you for your feedback. A few points, please:
- 1) I can change the names of most of the original files, but will have to read up on how to do it. So I can better know what you're looking for as far as style compliance is concerned, maybe it's better if you do most (I don't think I have that many) so I know what's expected going forward. As with most style guidelines, there should be exceptions, as I make the case for in point two.
- 2) There's already a [Needs Verification] icon next to the point about how Wyll may avoid getting horns for the duration of the game, which I've already done a few times over a few patches. (Totally subjective opinion: I hate Wyll's horns). So, in this instance, if I had put up a picture that was cropped or otherwise altered in any way, it might've given the reader the impression I falsified, doctored or otherwise altered the image. Showing the whole screenshot, and the file naming nomenclature from the screenshot directly from the game, lends weight to my assertion that I didn't. For example, with this image in particular, the following is clear or strongly implied:
- Minthara, Karlach and Wyll are in the picture, proving the party has already progressed to Act Two
- The yellow dots on the mini-map in the upper right hand corner of the picture indicate guards are still present. This proves the attack on Moonrise Towers hasn't happened yet and, therefore, Mizora would not have (normally) been at camp yet - and no longer is now, since the party has progressed to Act Two
- On the left, character icons showing active party members (and applied buffs) lend weight to my assertion no mods have been applied to obtain these results
- In retrospect, after having read your concerns and my reply here, all of the above could have been included in the original description of the picture as it was uploaded, so I did that here. While it seemed unnecessary at the time, I now think this kind of thing should be a "best practice" for future uploads where a picture may be misunderstood and/or otherwise lacks clarity.
- You may have already noticed most of my other pictures are cropped or lack dialogue on the screen which, as you say, may detract from the purpose of the picture, which should be to add material value to the page in question and the wiki as a whole.
- 3) Minthara's colour-coordinated outfit consists of:
Enraging Heart Garb and
Gloves of Belligerent Skies, both with the very rare
Gorgeous Maroon Dye
Disintegrating Night Walkers with the rare
Bloody Plum Dye, and the
Thunderskin Cloak with the rare
Pale Pink Dye
- All of which are available in the unmodified version of the game.
- Looking back, I probably should've mentioned the specifics of the gear and dye somewhere in the original picture content from being uploaded, but - again - didn't think it necessary at the time. I made changes there as well.
- 4) It's my intention to be a thoughtful, conscientious contributor that makes a significant difference to the wiki. While new here, I've been the admin for the Neverwinter Nights 2 wiki for about 5 years now and fancy myself as being reasonably good, albeit slow, at written communication. In my opinion, this site looks considerably better, and I find it more enjoyable to make edits on a site where the game is "active" and getting frequent and material updates from the devs. If there's ever a question or concern, or some way I can improve, please let me know, as you've done here.
- 5) Finally, please accept my apologies for any confusion I may have caused, or unhappy deviation from guidelines. As you can see, sometimes it takes several edits for me to communicate clearly, accurately and politely all I wish to say, and in the manner in which I mean to say it. Hopefully, you and others agree it's worth the much-more-than usual edits to justify whatever I've done.
- Thank you again for your feedback.
- Raelin (talk) 02:29, 12 January 2025 (CET)
- Hi Raelin,
- thank you for your reply! Let me get the "simple" points out of the way first.
- 3) Thats on me, I didnt recognize the equipped items! (A few of us didnt, thats on us). So no worries there!
- 4 & 5) My feedback was not meant to critize the edits you've made, we appreciate every single one of them. Thank you for being so open to all of it!
- 1) I'll happily change the image names - if you feel like you wanna read up on it first and have "examples" to try it on, I have no issue leaving them to you!

Multiclassing and unlocked spell variants[edit source]
Hey Raelin, the original casts to spells that subsequently grant free variants correctly use the spellcasting ability modifier of the class under which the spell is learned. Only the unlocked variant spells incorrectly use the last obtained spellcasting ability modifier from multiclassing. Rydiak (talk) 02:49, 10 February 2025 (CET)
- My apologies.
- Is there a way to rephrase all of this this in a way that is clearer to the reader?
- I, for example, am still not sure what you mean. If I don't understand, it's not unreasonable to assume others may have difficulty as well. Raelin (talk) 02:55, 10 February 2025 (CET)
- I'll work on better wording later. Rydiak (talk) 02:59, 10 February 2025 (CET)
- I did one with eyebite. Please let me know if this communicates what you intended. Raelin (talk) 03:02, 10 February 2025 (CET)
- That edit still isn't quite correct. After you cast Eyebite once you are granted three Eyebites that cast for free. These are the ones that use a bugged SourceSpellDC. Rydiak (talk) 03:03, 10 February 2025 (CET)
- I'm still not understanding the specifics of what you mean.
- I take 11 levels in Warlock and lastly 1 level in Cleric.
- This is the behavior for all spells which grant a "recast" spell. I hope that helps clear things up. Rydiak (talk) 03:14, 10 February 2025 (CET)
- I'm still confused.
- Every class technically uses a spellbook, that when they learn a new spell it gets placed into it. Spells use from that spellbook use the spellcasting ability of the class. Spells used outside of a spellbook used the spellcasting ability of that last class they took. Rydiak (talk) 03:23, 10 February 2025 (CET)
- If I'm understanding this correctly, any recasting of any spell uses the new spellcasting class' DC, regardless of whether it was done before with the old class. I thought this was the case with all spells cast when multiclassing, but I'm hearing you say this only applies to recastings. Is this right? Raelin (talk) 03:31, 10 February 2025 (CET)
- Don't get hung up on the word "recasting" though. I am referring to casting the new spell that gets granted to the caster AFTER having cast the original spell.
- Heat Metal -> Reapply Heat Metal
- Call Lightning -> Activate Call Lightning
- These are the spells that use the spellcasting ability modifier of the character (set by the last multiclass) as opposed to the spellcasting ability modifier of the class that the spell originates from. Rydiak (talk) 03:34, 10 February 2025 (CET)
- That's what I thought you meant. I appreciate your taking the time to walk me through to an understanding.
- In my opinion, this could be a new webpage or an addition to a spellcasting webpage that addresses the issue of granted spells.
- Right now there is no such page that I'm aware of. And I'm sure others could benefit from this clarity as well. Raelin (talk) 03:39, 10 February 2025 (CET)
- It isn't many spells that are affected by this, but it is definitely good information to spread. You are super welcome too! I would have done it on Discord to make it easier for us but this works too.
- Here is a list of the spells I've noticed so far that are affected by this issue:
- Target_CallLightning_LightningBolt
- Target_HeatMetal_Reapply
- Target_VampiricTouch_Free
- Throw_Telekinesis_Recast
- Target_Eyebite_Asleep_Free
- Target_Eyebite_Panicked_Free
- Target_Eyebite_Sickened_Free
- Zone_Sunbeam_Recreate
- MOONBEAM

Scrolls[edit source]
Hey Raelin, I saw you reverted the notes to the scrolls that can't be transcribed to a Wizard's spellbook.
I'd like to point out that:
1. Spells from scrolls, such as Scroll of Artistry of War,
Scroll of Dethrone and
Scroll of Summon Quasit are not on Wizard's spell list either, but they can be copied.
- Those are good points.
- Added explanation to the notes for the four scrolls in question and Spell Scribing. Hope it's good enough. Bohdan (talk) 19:30, 11 February 2025 (CET)
- How about
Scroll of Speak with Dead? Rydiak (talk) 19:34, 11 February 2025 (CET)
- These look good. I tweaked them some. Raelin (talk) 01:00, 12 February 2025 (CET)
