Thunderous Smite is a level 1 evocation spell. This spell allows spellcasters to cause their melee weapon to ring with Damage TypesThunder as they strike, pushing targets away and potentially knocking them Prone Prone.

Description

Your melee weapon rings with thunder as you strike, pushing your target 3 m / 10 ft away and possibly knocking them Prone Prone.

Notes

  • This spell counts as a weapon attack and thus can be used with Extra Attack Extra Attack.
  • Thunderous Smite (and other Smite spells) behave differently from Divine Smite Divine Smite.
    • It cannot be triggered as reactions and must be used manually.
    • It count as a spell for the purposes of features like Tempestuous Magic Tempestuous Magic or Empowered Evocation Empowered Evocation. Despite consuming spell slots, Divine Smite is not actually classified as a spell.
    • Divine Smite can be triggered as a reaction when using Thunderous Smite allowing for two different smites in a single attack.
