Question about writing policy[edit source]

If in-game tooltip is wrong or insufficient, should we

(a) write it correctly here in wiki and then add a comment in the notes about this

or

(b) write it as it is explained in the game and then correct it in the notes.

I think (a) is the better policy, but I think I've seen both cases here. I think this should be mentioned somewhere in the guides (and it probably is), but I didn't find it.

In this particular article Heroic should be fixed to include only temporary hit points and Elixir of Heroism conditon to include only the similar bonuses as Bless. However, I think Bless should not be used here, because Elixir of Heroism does not give Bless and stacks with it. Pjotr of the East (talk) 18:46, 15 February 2025 (CET)Reply[reply]

Yeah, (a) is the approach that should be used. The descriptions should follow the in-game description if possible, but any inaccuracies should be corrected. Then, in the Notes (or sometimes Bugs section depending on context), include a brief point that the in-game description is inaccurate and has been edited. Got it.
Another question: Is there a general To Do List here? This would be great for many reasons:
  • It's easier to just report the problem than to fix it or research how it really goes. This might encourage more people to participate.
  • This might make some members more active as then there would always be concrete ideas on what to do.
  • If completed items of the list were marked with strike through instead or removing them, it would be nice to see how the project advances, which might encourage people to finish the list faster.
  • If people have useful ideas but they get fed up before adding them all, they could at least leave those ideas with less effort here, so that others could implement them.
The last point is the main reason why I'm asking this. I started adding things about half a year ago to this wiki, and it seems that for every solved problem I found two new ones, so my to do list seems to just expand, and I'll probably get fed up before finishing it.
One problem with this kind of common To Do List here would be that it might get pretty long, because you also need to specify what you mean by your ideas. I think the following practice might be good:
  • New ideas would be written in a list as first level items.
  • Specifications would be written below as sub-items.
  • Sub-items would be hidden by defaul with Collapse or Hidden templates or something similar. I use clumsily spoiler box in the example below.
  • As the list grows, subheadings would be added to break the list into different topics.
  • The link to the list would be in the left hand side menu of the main page, so that it would easy to find.
Here's and example:
  • Add a page that compares when different long lasting AoE damage spells do damage.

There is nothing like that at the moment, but I quite like the idea. I threw together a template for writing todo notes: {{Todo}}. The talk page of that template would probably be the appropriate place to continue this conversation. NtCarlson (talk) 23:48, 16 February 2025 (CET)Reply[reply]
