Lotan was a [[tiefling]] child originally planned to act as a [[Traders|merchant]] in the [[Emerald Grove]], although he was cut during Early Access.<ref>[https://x.com/chubblot/status/1674505313041412096 https://twitter.com/chubblot/status/1674505313041412096]</ref> His mother was a worshipper of [[Umberlee]] who was mistaken for being a cultest, which Lotan implies resulted in her murder. Lotan would offer to trade various "junk" goods with the player in return for shells, which he planned to "return to the sea" as a way of appeasing Umberlee. Part of his storyline would include a cut mechanic that involved finding a hermit crab and keeping it moist until you could return it to him. While most of Lotan's goods were uninteresting, he did offer players at least two unique magical items: the ''Cup of Endless Water'', which would allow players to summon a water surface at will, and the ''Bitch Queen's Blessing'', which is a single-use item that acted as an AoE [[Charmed (Condition)|charm]] spell.
