If these tests were done with STR elixirs, they need to be redone. familiars simply have a hard coded ability they use for their attacks, just like how, e.g., a mace always uses STR. giving STR elixirs to summons who do use STR, like the mummy, shows they scale correctly. Likely this is for familiars as well.
