Lenore De Hurst: Difference between revisions

Lenore is a cleric of Mystra who was studying the magical properties of the Underdark. {{cite text|De Hurst's Diary|Lenore De Hurst|name=diary}} Lenore and her partner, Yrre, lived and worked together for a short time in the Arcane Tower, which still holds many of Lenore's experiments.{{ref|[[The Blast Pendant]]}} During a large storm, Yrre left the Underdark to pursue their obsession with storm magic, leaving Lenore alone with her research. {{ref|[[The Watersparkers]]}} Lenore remained in the tower, which moved around the Underdark, {{ref|"''The southwest, when I last saw her. Although her tower does have a tendency... to move.''" - [[Blurg]]}} with only her pet dog Myrna and her construct [[Bernard]] for company.

Lenore was fond of gardening,{{ref|"''She is quite fond of her garden. Lenore has always been a lonely sort - nature was her only companion.'' - [[Blurg]]}} and in particular was interested in the antimagic properties of sussur tree bark and flowers,{{cite text|Treatise on the Antimagic Properties of Sussur Tree Flowers|Lenore De Hurst}} and used them to control the lighting and turrets in the tower. Lenore also created the tower guardian Bernard, a construct who only responds to poetry and play scripts.

Lenore had just begun writing her treatise on sussur flowers, before being called away to Baldur's Gate to confer with her fellow Mystran clerics sometime in 1481 DR. {{cite text|name=diary}} During her visit to Baldur's Gate, Lenore was temporarily ensnared by an anomaly cause by a stranger (see [[#Easter eggs]]). {{cite text|A Query from DeHurst|Lenore De Hurst}}

Lenore planned to depart the tower only for a short time, hoping to return and reunite with Yrre. {{cite text|Letter to Yrre|Lenore De Hurst}}. However, she never returned, her research and tower going untouched for a decade. Yrre, who was a gnomish inventor and tinkerer, eventually visited with [[the Spellsparkler]], a staff they had made specially for Lenore. {{ref|[[The Spellsparkler]]}} When Lenore was nowhere to be found, they waited for some time in vain for her to return.

At some point during her stay in the Underdark, Lenore's dog Myrna died. She buried Myrna in the Dread Hollow, overlooking the lake and with her favourite autumncrocus flowers. She later became enamoured with a [[bulette]] who she found near Myrna's grave, taming it to be a guardian. {{cite text|Letter from Amarith|Amarith}}
