Geraldus is a new recruit for the Harpers, who has been looking into the recent Bhaalist activity in the city on Jaheira Jaheira's orders. He can be found in Danthelon's Dancing Axe in Wyrm's Crossing.

History[edit | edit source]

Bhaalist Resurgence[edit | edit source]

After rumors of Bhaalist activity surfaced in Baldur's Gate, Jaheira Jaheira ordered her Harpers to look into the machinations of the Cult of Bhaal, letting them uncover as much information as possible while she led another force of Harpers into the Shadow-Cursed Lands to defeat Ketheric Thorm Ketheric Thorm. However, as Jaheira ordered the Harpers to concentrate their efforts in finding the Minsc Rashemaar, Geraldus' Harper cell was killed or captured by Bhaalist doppelgangers, only to be brought to Orin Orin.

Geraldus was the only Harper left alive by the doppelgangers, so that he would be used a live bait for Jaheira and the party to contact.

Involvement[edit | edit source]

Hostage to Bhaalists[edit | edit source]

While in Wyrm's Crossing with Jaheira and following The High Harper The High Harper, she points out Danthelon's Dancing Axe, a store run by Entharl Danthelon Entharl Danthelon, and front for a Harper safe house. After Jaheira speaks with Entharl, he gives the party the key to a secret room beneath the store, where Geraldus and a group of impersonated Harpers are waiting to give Jaheira new information from their scouting.

Once below, Geraldus greets the party, saying "May Selûne Selûne's Tears shine on this meeting." Jaheira immediately recognises the old Harper code, and tries to communicate to the player character that the Harpers present are traitors. Attacking the Harpers reveals all but Geraldus to be Bhaalist doppelgangers, their originals murdered, and Geraldus left alive as bait.

If Geraldus dies during the fight, he can be spoken to using Speak with Dead Speak with Dead. His corpse informs the party about the doppelganger treachery from the cult of Bhaal, Orin and Enver Gortash Gortash's war with each other, and that he was here to give Jaheira information on the Rashemaar.

If Geraldus survives the fight, and Jaheira is in the party, he explains that the Harpers were searching for cultists of Bhaal Bhaal in the city, and all was quiet until they began asking after the Minsc Rashemaar on Jaheira's latest orders. The cult struck during the night, capturing the others and bringing them back to Orin Orin.

Jaheira then chastises Geraldus on bringing danger to Entharl's shop, and suggests that maybe he is not cut out for the job.

If agreeing, Jaheira and Entharl make plans to send Geraldus home to his mother in the Dalelands.

If disagreeing, or even lecturing Jaheira on sending the Harpers out on too dangerous a job, Jaheira apologises and instructs Geraldus to lay low and rest if he can; he is now the last Harper operating in the city that she can rely on.

If Jaheira is not in the party, Geraldus gives them his report, assuming that they were sent on Jaheira's orders.
