Kagha

From bg3.wiki

Kagha is a Wood Elf Druid. She was Halsin's Second Druid, but has named herself First Druid in his absence. She has decided to enact the Rite of Thorns to seal the Grove off, no matter the consequences.

Personality

Kagha wants to prove her authority over the Emerald Grove, and is willing to take drastic action. She has come to see the Tiefling Refugees as parasites, and calls them devils and a rot to be cleansed.

Kagha justifies her actions as those of a watchful broodmother. As such, Kagha admires drow and duergar for their culture of self-preservation. If the player is a drow or duergar, she will attempt to appeal to them by calling their presence a gift.

Involvement

Zevlor requests the player's aid on dealing with the acting Archdruid of the Grove, Kagha. He says that she, alongside the other Druids, is preparing a ritual to seal off the Grove from the rest of the world, leaving the tiefling refugees in danger.

The player later finds Kagha reprimanding a tiefling child named Arabella for attempting to steal the Idol of Silvanus. The player and Rath, another druid, can intervene to save the child. Should the player fail to persuade Kagha or decide to not intervene, Arabella will attempt to run, and Kagha's snake will chase her down and kill her.

Regardless of that, she'll commend the player for their actions at the gate, and will recommend to aid Zevlor in defeating the goblin leaders to make his people leave.

Investigate Kagha

Main article: Investigate Kagha

Kagha can be investigated and potentially confronted by the party. This must be done before Halsin is rescued from the Goblin camp, otherwise the quest will be cancelled early.

If the players search the sanctum, they can find Kagha's chest. Lockpicking it will reveal a letter that will advance the player in the Investigate Kagha quest and guide them to a covert meeting in the Swamp. There, after a fight with Ancient Mud Mephits and Wood Woads, the player will find out Kagha is secretly planning to hand over the Grove to the Shadow Druids of the Cloakwood.

If the player returns and confront Kagha about this, the Shadow Druids will reveal themselves and ask Kagha to attack the player and everyone else inside. The player can help Kagha see her wrongs, and make her join the Grove's druid's side instead.

Should Kagha survive the ordeal, she'll show remorse for her actions. She'll thank the player, and will proceed to let the tieflings stay at the Grove for as long as they need. If the player is a druid, she will bestow them the title of Faithwarden, and gift them the quarterstaff Pale Oak.

Kagha's Fate

Should the player not kill Kagha themselves, her fate depends largely on whether or not she was convinced to turn against the Shadow Druids, and whether she allowed Arabella die in her custody.

  • Kagha repented
    • Halsin allows Kagha to remain in the Grove, however she is demoted to novice. (If the player returns to the area after Act 1, she will be standing on the path overlooking the grove -- near where Zevlor and Aradin fought when the player first arrived.)
  • Kagha did not repent
    • Arabella died, her parents live
      • Halsin leaves her fate in Locke and Komira's hands. They will attempt to poison Kagha at the party, which will kill her unless the player intervenes.
      • If player convinces Locke and Komira to spare Kagha, the poison can be cured (e.g. with Lesser Restoration). Kagha thanks the player profusely and vows to improve herself.
    • Arabella and her Parents died
      • Kagha is exiled from the Emerald Grove, and all Groves of Silvanus.
    • Convinced to let Arabella go earlier
      • Kagha is demoted to the most junior rank of druid

Notes

  • "Ssifisv," the command she gives Teela, is a draconic command to step down.
  • In combat, Kagha prioritizes maintaining Moonbeam above all other actions. This can often lead into her walking into her own Moonbeam. It can also cause the deaths of NPCs around with low HP such as Loic or Silver.
