Sanguine Vent

From bg3.wiki

A Sanguine Vent is a unique type of Trap that might be encountered in the Undercity Ruins in the Act Three of the game.

A triggered vent surrounded with Unstable Blood

A Sanguine Vent is a hidden mechanism, a unique type of Vent, installed in the stone slabs of the floor in the caves in the very depth of the ruins. There are several such vents planted in the pavement of the large bridge leading to the Bhaal Temple. These vents will be inevitably encountered when the player reaches the climax of their conflict with Orin Orin the Red.

Once triggered, a Sanguine Vent issues a puddle of Unstable Blood covering much part of the surface around it. This may be either a result of failed attempt to disarm it or a result of stepping upon any of Marble Plates also lying across the bridge. After that, if the party members tread carefully, they will not gain any harm save for blood-soaked shoe soles.

However, the resulting bloodied surface has all properties of the cognominal feature (the very same that can possibly be acquired after dealing with the blood trader Araj Oblodra Araj Oblodra in the Lower City). On the contact with a source of fire, whatever it would be, the bloodied surface explodes and keep burning for three turns.

This effect might be reached easily, as the bridge on which the Sanguine Vents are hidden, is lit by several braziers, already burning, and also several candles.

A Sanguine Vent can be spotted with a DC 15 Perception check check and disarmed with the help of Sleight of Hand Sleight of Hand skill, but the character must have a Trap Disarm Toolkit in their inventory. Difficulty Class requirement is a DC 10 Sleight of Hand check roll.

After disarming, a Sanguine Vent will be depicted as the same, but rendered inactive further on. As with other types of "spilling" vents, the puddle of blood around the aperture itself will partly disappear.
