Environmental objects are game objects that are neither characters nor items. They can be interactable and sometimes capable of taking actions or triggering effects. However, they generally lack the full qualities of characters or items, such as ability blocks for the former, or being able to be placed in an inventory for the latter.

Traps are the most common and instructive example of environmental objects.
