You value the arts of stealth and subterfuge, bending the shadows to your will to strike without warning.

Way of Shadow is one of the subclasses of Monk Monk. It can be chosen at level 3. These monks are more specialized in using the shadows to quietly strike their foes.

Subclass Features

This subclass obtains all the features from its base class, Monk, in addition to its unique features outlined below.

Level 3

  • Minor Illusion Minor Illusion (Cantrip): Create an illusion that compels nearby creatures to investigate. You can remain hidden while casting this spell. This spell can be cast while you are Silenced Silenced.

Shadow Arts

  • Shadow Arts: Darkness Shadow Arts: Darkness: Create a dark shroud that heavily Obscures and Blinds creatures within. Creatures cannot make ranged attacks into or out of it. Equivalent to the spell Darkness.

Level 5

Cloak of Shadows Cloak of Shadows

  • Wrap yourself in shadows to become Invisible Invisible if you are Obscured. Invisibility ends early if you attack, cast a spell, take an action, or take damage.

Level 6

Shadow Step Shadow Step

  • Teleport from shadow to shadow. Afterwards, you have Advantage Icon.png Advantage on your next melee Attack roll. Both the origin and the destination must be at least Lightly Obscured to use this skill.

Level 11

Shadow Strike

Teleport to a foe from a hidden position, striking them with the creeping, psychic ferocity of the shadows themselves.
