Addled Frog

The Addled Frog is Frog found in the Sunlit Wetlands.

Involvement

Using  Speak with Animals reveals that the frog seems to be in a state of painful madness, somehow caused by the corruptive magic of Auntie Ethel. If the hag is dead or forced out of the area, the frog regains its sanity and leads the party to a hidden stash of items at X: 7 Y: 294 as a reward.

If pestered for too long, the frog becomes hostile.

Attacks and Abilities

 Mirror Image (+ )

Create 3 illusory duplicates of yourself to distract attackers. Each duplicate increases your  Armour Class by 3.

Whenever you successfully evade an attack, one of the duplicates disappears.

 Reflective Mucus ()

Increases Armour Class by 2, and reflects the first projectile flying towards it back at the attacker, after which the mucus is removed.

 Venomous Discharge ()

Damage: 8~29

Spit out a venomous substance and possibly  Poison those it hits.

 Range: 12 m / 40 ft

Tactics

Despite appearances the Addled Frog has an unusually high Armour Class thanks to its Mucus ability and having  Mirror Image when the fight begins. While it may have one attack, it is quite powerful and its AoE can hit multiple party members if they are grouped up. It will also use  Jump quite often to create distance. Also, be wary of the first ranged attack or spell that hits it, since it will be reflected.

While the Frog can prove to be quite deadly, it has relatively few Hit Points, and so it is vulnerable to a well-prepared melee fighter or a  Sleep spell. Its Reflective Mucus trait will counter all missiles fired from  Magic Missile spell. If this trait is gone, a burst or two of  Magic Missile will also likely kill it.
