Elturel is a city in the Western Heartlands of West Faerûn. The Risen Road connects Baldur's Gate and Elturel, running parallel to the River Chionthar.
Overview
Elturel was briefly dragged into Avernus as part of an infernal conspiracy, a terrible event referred to as "The Descent" or "The Fall of Elturel". After the city returned to the Heartland surface, fear and distrust led to the exile of Elturels Tiefling population. The tiefling refugees can be first encountered in the Druid Grove in Act 1 and then throughout Act 2 and Act 3.
Elturel's Descent is the main plot of the 2019 Dungeons & Dragons adventure 
Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus, which was developed and released as a prequel to Baldur's Gate 3.
