Elin

Blaze Elin is the human fortress commander of the Flaming Fist in Wyrm's Rock. She guards the South Drawbridge Checkpoint and will prevent the party from entering unless they are in possession of a pass, or succeed a difficult ability check.

Involvement

Act Three

Elin can be found standing guard with Gai, Shah, and three Steel Watchers. The party must speak with her to enter the city via the bridge. Based on the party's actions before approaching Elin, they have the following dialogue options:

• See this? I've been invited to the ordination. (If a pass was obtained)
• As you can see, I have an urgent dispatch for Duke Ravengard. (If the Urgent Report for Duke Ravengard is stolen from Sword Coast Couriers)
• Investigator Valeria needs me in the Lower City - a serial killer's on the loose. (If the pass was given by Valeria)
• What's special about today?
• Not closed to Duke Ulder Ravengard's own son, surely? (If interacting as Wyll)
• [BALDURIAN] Baldur's Gate is my home. I don't need permission to enter.
• [DECEPTION] An assassin is in pursuit of Duke Ravengard! I need to warn him! (DC 30)
• [PERSUASION] I'm here to protect Archduke-Elect Gortash. (DC 30)
• [PERSUASION] Such a bother. What if I were to contribute to the 'Flaming Fist's Orphans' Fund'? (DC 25) (Requires 20,000 Gold)
• [WARLOCK] [DECEPTION] I am Lord Gortash's new occultist - let me pass or your name goes in the Book of Vile Darkness. (DC 30)
• [BARD] [DECEPTION] Please let me in - I'm meant to be in the coronation orchestra, it's my big break! (DC 30)

Choosing to enter by providing a pass or by telling her that Valeria needs the party's help grants Rock-Solid Alibi for Rogues, and Multipass for those with the Noble background.

In a Banite report to Enver Gortash, Elin's performance as fortress commander is vigorously besmirched, noting that she tends to "spend much of her day personally reviewing admissions" instead of properly administering the Flaming Fists and arranging the fortress' roof ballista teams.

 Blight ()

Deals 8d8Necrotic to a target. Plants take maximum damage from this spell, and have Disadvantage on the Saving throw against it.

 Conjure Elemental: Fire Elemental ()

The fire elemental can use  Smouldering Touch,  Erupting Cinder, and can make your foes  Burn.

 Range: 18 m / 60 ft

 Counterspell ()

Try to stop a spell being cast.

If it is higher level than the spell slot you used to Counterspell, you must make a check using your spellcasting ability^{[See Notes]} to prevent it. The check's difficulty is equal to 10 plus the level of the spell you are trying to counter.

 Fire Bolt ()

1d10 (1~10) Fire

Hurl a mote of fire.

 Range: 18 m / 60 ft

 Melf's Acid Arrow ()

4d4 (4~16) Acid

Shoot a green arrow that bursts in a spray of acid. Deals 4d4Acid damage immediately and 2d4Acid damage at the end of the target's next turn.

If the spell misses, the target still takes half the initial damage, but no damage at the end of its next turn.

 See Invisibility ()

Become able to see  Invisible creatures, and possibly reveal them to others.

DEX Save

 Range: Self

 Slow ()

Alter time around up to 6 enemies to Slow them. They won't get far, they can't do much, and they're easier to hit.

• Elin has a unique physical appearance, and her outfit is rather unusual compared to the rest of the Flaming Fists.
  • Elin has the same face model as Mizora albeit with freckles, and has a unique combination of piercings and hair accessories that is otherwise inaccessible to players.
  • Elin wears robes identical to the Obsidian Laced Robe, with golden pauldrons. Her back is adorned with a cape that is visually identical to the Cindermoth Cloak.
