If approaching Lann Tarv with {{CharLink|Karlach}} as a party member, there is an opportunity to receive three {{SmRarityItem|Soul Coin|Soul Coins}} left with him on behalf of Florenta the Garrotter, on condition that you listen to him tell the stories behind each of the three souls they contain. Although this is a devil's bargain, accepting these coins has no documented negative effects or approval changes. The player character can initially refuse the coins - offered by a devil - as "too risky" but still accept them after at Karlach's behest. Ultimately refusing the deal despite Karlach strongly suggesting otherwise causes -5 disapproval.

If ultimately refusing the deal, or if Karlach is not present, the soul coins may still be acquired by theft or purchase.
