Camp Events

During Baldur's Gate 3, many story related events happen at the Campsite. These are almost always triggered upon doing a Long Rest, but some of them automatically happen upon reaching certain triggers. Sometimes, several events can be queued if all of their requirements are met. Below is a list of these events and their requirements, if there are any.

Act I[edit | edit source]

Astarion sneaks away from camp[edit | edit source]

Requirements: None

Consequences: This event happens during one of your earlier Long Rests. Astarion Astarion can be seen sneaking away from camp while the party is asleep.

Astarion tries to bite the player character[edit | edit source]

Requirements: None

Consequences: The player character suddenly wakes up and catches Astarion Astarion trying to bite them. Here, it is revealed Astarion is a vampire spawn. It is then possible to decide wether to let Astarion bite them, kill him or banish him from the camp. There is bonus dialogue if the player character has spotted a killed boar, Astarion previously drained in the Wilderness.

Astarion and the player character have sex[edit | edit source]

Requirements: Accepting Astarion's proposal to have sex with him when he offers it.

Consequences: Astarion and the player character share a night of passion. This event potentially starts a romance with Astarion.

Dream Guardian visits you in your dreams.[edit | edit source]

Requirements: Either travelling to the Goblin Camp or going to the Mountain Pass and trigger the Artifact cutscene.

Consequences: First, the player character appears to be very sick. Then Lae'zel Lae'zel threatens to kill them, as she thinks the player character and everyone else are transforming into Mind Flayers. After talking her down, it is possible to go to sleep. During their dreams, the player character is visited by the Dream Guardian, who vows to protect them and suggests consuming additional Mind Flayer tadpoles to unlock new powers. After this event, the player character is able to unlock Ilithid Powers.

Elminster visits the camp to give a message to Gale[edit | edit source]

Requirements: Gale Gale being in the party or camp. Finding Elminster Elminster near the entrance to the Shadow Cursed Lands at either the Mountain Pass of Grymforge and inviting him to camp.

Consequences: Elminster gives Gale a message from Mystra about the Orb and stabilizes it. This event is notable for triggering during daytime.

Goblin celebration[edit | edit source]

Requirements: Completing Raid the Emerald Grove Raid the Emerald Grove, while siding with Minthara Minthara and the Goblins. Then talking to Minthara to initiate the party.

Consequences: The Goblins appear at camp and throw a party. This event also allows the player character to initiate romantic encounters with the companions at a much lover approval rate compared to otherwise. This event is also the only time a sexual encounter with Minthara can be triggered.

Karlach and the player try to romantically connect.[edit | edit source]

Requirements: Telling Karlach Karlach that the player character really likes her at Medium Approval.

Consequences: Karlach visits the player character at night and has a romantic talk with them. This event potentially starts a romance with Karlach.

Lae'zel and the player have sex[edit | edit source]

Requirements: Accepting Lae'zel Lae'zel's proposal to have sex with her when she offers it.

Consequences: Lae'zel and the player character share a night of passion. This event potentially starts a romance with Lae'zel.

Mizora appears at camp[edit | edit source]

Requirements: Having Wyll Wyll in the party and deciding whether to kill Karlach or inviting her to join the party.

Consequences: Mizora Mizora appears at the campsite to deal with Wyll. If Karlach is invited to join the party, Wyll is turned into a devil as punishment for failure to uphold his contract. If Karlach was killed, Wyll is rewarded with the Infernal Robe instead. After this, more dialogue options for Wyll are unlocked.

Owlbear Cub first appearance[edit | edit source]

Requirements: First dealing with the Owlbear mother. Then, finding the Owlbear Cub at the Goblin Camp, freeing it from the Goblins and inviting it to camp.

Consequences: The Owlbear cub visits the camp at night and asks for some food. If given some food, one of the companions will scare it away. The player character can scare it away themselves, too. The encounters has different options if using Speak with Animals Speak with Animals active.

Owlbear Cub second appearance.[edit | edit source]

Requirements: Offering some food to the Owlbear Cub during its first appearance.

Consequences: The Owlbear Cub returns and is wounded on one of its legs. If succeeding a skill check to heal him, the Owlbear Cub becomes a permanent Camp Follower. Like the previous event, the options differ using Speak with Animals Speak with Animals.

Shadowheart and the player character share a romantic evening.[edit | edit source]

Requirements: Telling Shadowheart Shadowheart to connect some more with her at Medium Approval.

Consequences: Shadowheart and the player character share a romantic evening which can result in a kiss. This event can start a romance with Shadowheart.

Shadowheart and Lae'zel fight[edit | edit source]

Requirements: Lae'zel learns Shadowheart has a gith artefact.

Consequences: During the night, one of the two is awoken by the other, who holds them at knifepoint (this could be Shadowheart seeking to get rid of Lae'zel or Lae'zel demanding answers from Shadowheart). Things could turn violent, with one possibly killing the other and other party members possibly getting involved. Or they could bury the hatchet.

Tiefling Refugee celebration[edit | edit source]

Requirements: Completing Defeat the Goblins Defeat the Goblins or Raid the Emerald Grove Raid the Emerald Grove, while siding with the Tieflings. Then talking to Zevlor Zevlor to initiate a feast.

Consequences: Zevlor and the Tiefling refugees appear at camp and throw a party before leaving for Baldur's Gate. The choices prior to this event determine who appears during the party. This event also allows the player character to initiate romantic encounters with the companions at a much lover approval rate compared to otherwise.

Wyll appears at camp and threatens Karlach[edit | edit source]

Requirements: Recruiting Karlach Karlach to the party before recruiting Wyll Wyll.

Consequences: Wyll appears at the campsite and threatens Karlach. This conversation plays out similarly if taking him to Karlach. He can be convinced easily, that Karlach is no devil and can be invited as a companion. It is also possible to kill him or Karlach instead.

Act I Origin specific events[edit | edit source]

Dark Urge[edit | edit source]

Alfira visits camp and is killed by Dark Urge[edit | edit source]

Requirements: Meeting Alfira at least once.

Consequences: Alfira Alfira appears after initiating a Long Rest. Her dialogue depends on how the party treated her, when they encountered her before. No matter the outcome of the dialogue, she stays the night at the camp, but is killed by the Dark Urge at night. The Dark Urge then has to either hide the body through succeding a DC 12 stealth Strength check or convince their companions they were innocent through succeding a Persuasion check. The difficulty class for the persuasion check varies depending on whether or not the player character cleaned the blood off and depending on which options they choose to do so. It is also possible to blame Astarion if knowing that he is a vampire. Doing so causes him to lose approval. Alternatively, the player character admit to the murder.

If Alfira is already dead or knocked unconscious on the day this event is triggered, the party will be visited by Quil Grootslang Quil Grootslang instead, and she is killed then instead of Alfira. If Alfira was knocked unconscious she later can be met at the place where she was knocked out and after the camp celebration, she can be encountered in the Last Light Inn in Act Two.

Scleritas Fel visits the camp.[edit | edit source]

Requirements: Having experienced the previous event.

Consequences: Sceleritas Fel Sceleritas Fel, the butler to the Dark Urge, appears before them and congratulates them on the murder of Alfira or Quil. He then gives the Dark Urge the The Deathstalker Mantle as a reward.

Act II[edit | edit source]

Kith'rak Voss[edit | edit source]

Requirements: Visiting Crèche Y'llek then using the Mountain Pass to get to the Shadow-Cursed Lands.

Consequences: Voss Voss arrives at camp and attempts to sway Lae'zel Lae'zel to his side after the events of the Creche. The player character can push Lae'zel to either agree or disagree, potentially putting her on her Orpheus path.

Raphael visits after killing Yurgir[edit | edit source]

Requirements: Completing Kill Raphael's Old Enemy.

Consequences: Raphael Raphael holds up his end of the bargain and explains Astarion Astarion's scars to him in exchange for killing Yurgir Yurgir.

Visited by Ogres[edit | edit source]

Requirements: Getting Lump's War horn, agreeing to pay the Ogres and entering Act 2.

Consequences: The Ogres appear in camp, if you never called them and never paid their debt.

Act 2 Romance scenes[edit | edit source]

Requirements: Romancing a companion.

Consequences: Some companions have an Act 2 romance scene.

Dream Visitor[edit | edit source]

Requirements: Going to Moonrise Tower.

Consequences: The Dream Visitor explains their struggle.

Act II Origin specific events[edit | edit source]

Dark Urge[edit | edit source]

Slayer form[edit | edit source]

Requirements: Isobel Isobel surviving the abduction at Last Light Inn, and Sceleritas Fel Sceleritas Fel visiting the camp and wants the Dark Urge to kill her

Consequences: If killing Isobel, the protection of the Last Light Inn ends and the Dark Urge obtains the Slayer form. If not killing Isobel, then Sceleritas Fel wants the player character to kill their partner or, if the player character did not romance any companion, the companion with the highest approval rating. If resisting, the player character does not obtain Slayer form.

Act III[edit | edit source]

Ambushed by vampire spawn[edit | edit source]

Requirements: Long resting during Act 3.

Consequences: Astarion Astarion's siblings attack the party at camp.

Emperor dream[edit | edit source]

Requirements: Learning about Belynne Stelmane Belynne Stelmane's murder.

Consequences: The The Emperor Emperor reflects on its past life.

Emperor romance[edit | edit source]

Requirements: Completing Visit the Emperor's Old Hideout Visit the Emperor's Old Hideout, knowing about Belynne Stelmane's murder.

Consequences: There will be an option to have a romance scene with the Emperor.

Jaheira's and Minsc's reunion[edit | edit source]

Requirements: Long resting after Minsc Minsc and Jaheira Jaheira have been recruited.

Consequences: After Minsc is rescued from the Absolute's domination, he and Jaheira have a brief confrontation at camp.

Mizora pact[edit | edit source]

Requirements: Recruiting Wyll. Talking with Mizora Mizora on Wyrm's Crossing bridge to Lower City after Enver Gortash Enver Gortash's coronation.

Consequences: Wyll has to chose, if he wants the pact with Mizora to endure till the end of his life and save his father Ulder Ravengard Ulder Ravengard, or if he wants to break the pact and ensure his father's death. This is part of The Grand Duke The Grand Duke and Wyll's personal quest.

Mizora romance[edit | edit source]

Requirements: Speaking to Mizora Mizora and allowing her to stay at camp.

Consequences: There is an option to have a romance scene with Mizora, potentially ending a relationship with a companion, if already partnered.

Orin kidnaps a companion[edit | edit source]

Requirements: Long resting after arriving in Lower City.

Consequences: Orin Orin abducts one of the companions.

Vlaakith visits[edit | edit source]

Requirements: Long resting during Act 3 and siding with Voss Voss.

Consequences: Vlaakith Vlaakith offers a last chance for Lae'zel Lae'zel to do her bidding and kill Orpheus Orpheus, promising ascension.

Act III Origin specific events[edit | edit source]

Dark Urge[edit | edit source]

Requirements: Dark Urge learns they are Bhaalspawn

Consequences: Jaheira or Jaheira and Minsc confront the Dark Urge after learning they are Bhaalspawn.
