bg3wiki:Editing policy

BG3.wiki's Editing Policy is a set of guidelines for editors to follow when contributing to the wiki. These are a set of principles to apply when reasonable, rather than a list of hard rules that must always be followed.
General principles
- Use straightforward, succinct language. Less is more.
- When making major edits, describe the nature of your edits by filling out the Summary field on the submission page.
- Do not be afraid to add incomplete information to the wiki. Incomplete edits can still be valuable. Do not create empty or near-empty articles.
- Always prioritise fixing factual errors over rewriting articles to conform to a specific style.
- Consult the Style Guide or Editing Policy when necessary. When the Style Guide is unable to provide guidance, follow the current wiki convention.
Editing conflicts and disputes
- A single editor's personal preference or opinion about what goes on the wiki should not override all others.
- In case of disagreements, start a discussion on the Discussion / Talk page or the bg3.wiki Discord when necessary.
Objectivity and verification
- Always attempt to source potentially contentious information using the <ref></ref> tag. If an edit needs verification, use the {{verify}} template.
- Maintain objectivity when editing the wiki, to the extent it is reasonable.
- Subjectivity is in some cases acceptable when relevant to an article, but should always be phrased using a neutral tone.
- Speculative or interpretive information should always be stated to be as such, should be written using neutral language, and should only be supplementary to an article.
Removing information
- Do not outright remove information that could be relevant to an article - rephrase and rework it.
- Do not remove information simply because it lacks verification. Add the {{verify}} template and start a discussion.
- If you disagree with the interpretation of something in the game, take it to the discussion page before removing it.
- Do remove factually incorrect information from the wiki, when necessary.
