Volothamp Geddarm, or Volo, for short, is a Camp Follower in Baldur's Gate 3. He can be first found at the Sacred Pool, interviewing a bear, during Chapter One. Volo is a recurring character in Forgotten Realms media and a returning character from Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal.
Chapter One
Spoiler warning: The following content contains unhidden spoilers. Read at your own risk. |
Volo will be found at the Sacred Pool inside the Druid Grove. He will conduct an interview on the player regarding the assault on the gates. After the interview, he will head towards the Goblin Camp.
The player will find Volo again, this time as a captive, forced to be jester and "entertainment" for the goblins. The player will be able to rescue him inside the Defiled Temple, through a skill check. If rescued, he will head towards the player's camp.
Depending on whose side the player chose, he will be either a free man or a caged one during the Party, where he'll sing a song for the player.
Volo can also be recruited to the Campsite, where he can attempt to remove the Mindflayer Tadpole. Doing this will end in catastrophe, but will pity the player and give them an enchanted eye in compensation, granting the condition permanently. He will then leave.
Chapter Three
In Baldur's Gate, you will find him trapped again in front of the Steel Watch Foundry near the Grey Harbor Docks, tied to a railcart loaded with Smokepowder Barrels and with an angry mob ready to execute him. If you rescue and talk to him, he will appear again at your camp, he will give you a book about the Slayer.
Trivia
- Volo is voiced by Stephen Hogan, replacing Rob Paulsen from previous games.
