This article lists any unique events that can occur at the campsite. These events can be initiated by talking to a character with an exclamation mark above their head, or some will begin automatically when certain conditions are fulfilled.

Events are listed by character and general chronological order, with the first line of dialogue in the scene. Spoilers for all acts.

General camp scenes

Act related

"Warm air; rustling leaves. A perfect night to sleep under the stars."
Trigger: During the first long rest in Act One, having recruited one or no companions.[Needs Verification]
Scene: The player will reflect on the events on the nautiloid. The scene will proceed differently, depending on the race or origin of the player character.

Tiefling celebration

After completing the quest Save the Refugees, the party may have a celebration at camp. All recruited companions will have scenes. Any related romance scenes are listed below.

Goblin celebration

After completing the quest Raid the Emerald Grove, the party may have a celebration at camp. All recruited companions will have scenes. Any related romance scenes are listed below.

"As you approach your camp, the raucous celebrations have already begun."
If they were recruited, Wyll and Karlach will tell the player that they are leaving the party. Volo will be once again in the goblin's clutches.
"Don't you love the silence after a massacre? It's just so pure."
This scene will begin and proceed differently, depending on the player's relationship with Astaron. Astarion will be enjoying himself at the goblin raider celebration.
"This is the worst moment. When the screams of the dying have faded..."
Gale will be shocked at what has happened, and want to leave the party. Will proceed differently if Minthara was betrayed during the party.

Other

"Suddenly you feel an unfamiliar weight amongst your belongings."
Trigger: Shadowheart was killed, but the artefact was not looted from her body.
Scene: Arriving at camp, the player will feel the artefact join their belongings.

Companions and origins

Astarion

Companion

These scene occur while Astarion is recruited into the party.

Cinematic scene

A short cutscene will play, where Astarion will be seen sneaking off while the rest of the party rests.

"You don't sleep well, flitting between dreams and nightmares."

The player will wake to find Astarion trying to bite them. They can allow him to continue, ask him to stop or try to kill him.

"Good morning. How do you feel?"

Astarion's bite scene has played


A follow-up scene will occur the next morning, where Astarion can be confronted by the player and companions. Proceeds differently depending on if Astarion was allowed to bite the player or not.

"You know, I was just thinking about you. Remembering our little encounter in the night."

Astarion will want to discuss how the blood of other members of the party might taste. Proceeds differently depending on if the player allowed Astarion to bite them or not.

"There you are! My friend."

Astarion will return to camp after an encounter with a bear, or something bear-like if in the Underdark.

"Looking at something?"

Astarion will be using a mirror, trying to remember what he looked like before he turned.

"Come on, come on. What are you hiding?"

Astarion will begin studying the tome, frustrated as he struggles to learn anything from it.

Origin

These scene occur only while playing as Astarion.

You rarely rest well, but tonight something feels different. Whether it's the parasite within your brain or the darkness without, you're deeply uneasy.
Trigger: During a long rest in an Act One campsite.
Scene: Astarion has a nightmare about Cazador carving his scars.
Cazador. Your Master. You have to get back to him quickly. If you're late, he'll flay you. Again.
Trigger: during a long rest.
Scene: Astarion has a nightmare about Cazador forbidding him to drink humanoid blood.

Gale

Companion

These scenes occur while Gale is recruited into the party.

"A word, if you please."
Trigger: Gale has asked the player multiple times for magical items to consume, but has not received any.
Scene: Gale will inform them he no longer needs help finding items, as he has made a deal with Raphael.
"Thanks for letting me stay."
Trigger: Gale has explained about the nature of his orb.
Scene: Gale has a short scene where he thanks the player for letting him remain in the party.

Origin

These scenes occur only while playing as Gale.

"Sleep is a hazy oasis on the far side of a desert of worry."
Trigger: During a long rest in Act One.
Scene: Tara will visit the camp to look after Gale, and become a camp follower.
"Mr Dekarios! There you are!"
Trigger: After absorbing a shadow weave from a town boss in the Shadow-Cursed Lands, crafting a Shadow Lantern, or refusing either of these opportunities.
Scene: Tara will raise her concerns about Gale's behaviour towards Mystra.
"There you are, Mr Dekarios. I've been champing at the proverbial bit."
Trigger: After dispelling a source of shadow magic in Balthazar's study.
Scene: Tara will present a letter from Elminster to Gale.

Halsin

These scenes occur while Halsin is a camp follower, or recruited into the party.

" A fine camp you have here. My apologies for showing up unannounced."
Trigger: Halsin will appear at camp after defeating the goblin leaders, or if the grove is sealed off.
Scene: Halsin will discuss Moonrise Towers and the curse with the player, and entrances to the Shadow-Cursed Lands.
"I trust you enjoyed your evening? After all your efforts, it was well-deserved."
Trigger: The morning after the tiefling celebration, Halsin will approach the player.
Scene: Halsin will tell the player about the curse surrounding Moonrise Towers, and suggest how to enter the Shadow-Cursed Lands.
"I thought you'd help me. I thought we'd help each other. Instead you chose this."
Trigger: During a long rest, if the player sided with the goblins in the tiefling conflict, after the goblin raider celebration. Proceeds differently depending on if the player has already met Halsin and what was said to him.
Scene: Halsin will visit camp and attack the party.

Karlach

Companion

"Ngh - hey soldier, I... well, I'm not feeling so good."
Trigger: During a long rest in the Shadow-Cursed Lands or Rosymorn Monastary area.
Scene: Karlach will inform the player that her engine is burning very hot, and needs maintenance.
"Ngh, soldier, my engine. It hurts."
Trigger: During a long rest after reaching Act Three.
Scene: Karlach will have a short scene with the player about her engine and the possibility of fixing it.

Origin

"Ngh - gods, this thing wants to burn out. Not sure it's ever felt worse."
Trigger: During a long rest, after reaching Wyrm's Rock lookout.
Scene: Karlach will feel her engine burning out, and will consider her options in the city.

Lae'zel

The air is heavy. Moisture drips down your forehead; pain shoots through your fingers.
Trigger: During a long rest, before the first dream with the Dream Guardian.
Scene: The party will experience symptoms of ceremorphosis. Lae'zel will approach the player to kill them, she can be allowed to continue, or persuaded otherwise.

Minthara

The Dark Urge

These scenes occur only while playing as the Dark Urge origin.

"I'm so glad I found - wait, it's me!"
Trigger: During a long rest in an Act One area. Always occurs if the party leaves for the Mountain Pass or Act Two.
Scene: Alfira arrives at camp, asking to join their camp. During the night, the Urge will kill her, regardless of if she was allowed to stay or not.
"Hark! Hark! A camp, and, Oghma-willing, some friendly faces."
Trigger: During the same conditions as Alfira's scene, only if Alfira has been killed or knocked unconscious.
Scene: Quil Grootslang arrives at camp, asking to stay the night as she was acosted while travelling. The Urge will kill her, regardless of if she stays.
"Tonight's troubled rest is, as ever, overwhelmed by your killing fate. You dangle above a dark precipice, one move away from falling."
Trigger: During a long rest in Act Three, after the Urge learns they are Bhaalspawn, and both Jaheira and Minsc are recruited. Proceeds differently depending on whether or not the Urge gained the Slayer form.
Scene: Jaheira and Minsc confront the Urge about their being a Bhaalspawn.

Camp followers

Isobel and Aylin

  • At the end of Act Two, Isobel and possibly Aylin will tell their story.
    • If Shadowheart is available, Isobel will speak with her, and Shadowheart will have a cutscene revealing part of her past.

Dream Guardian

"I came just in time. You are transforming."
Trigger: During a long rest in an Act One area, while the party has at least two people in it.
Scene: The introductory scene for the Dream Guardian.
"I promised I'd be back."
Trigger: while long resting in an Act One area, with at least one companion in the party.
Scene: The Dream Guardian will inform the player about the Cult of the Absolute.
"So you found the seat of the Absolute's power, and what a power it is."
Trigger: during a long rest after reaching Moonrise Towers.
Scene: The Guardian will talk to the player about Ketheric. The player can also Percieve the tole guarding the party is taking on them.

Raphael

"Do you know what happens when a devil is struck down on this charming plane of existence?"
Triggers during nighttime at camp, if Astarion is a companion or the player, after dealing with Yurgir.
Raphael will reveal the origin of Astarion's scars.

The Emperor

"How did you - oh. It's you. I must have let my mind wander. Enough for you to wander in."
Trigger: During a long rest in Act Three, after learning about Duke Stelmane's murder.
Scene: The Emperor will reflect on it's life with Stelmane, revealing some of it's past.
"They say that home is where a person can be their truest selves, without guile, without pretence."
Trigger: During a long rest in Act Three.
Scene: The Emperor will talk to the player about their history. Can potentially end with the two sleeping together.

Romance scenes

These scenes will occur in the lead-up to, or while the player is in a romance with a companion.

Astarion

"A quiet evening, for once. Perfect for two people who'd like to take some time to themselves, if you catch my meaning."
Trigger: During a long rest in the Wilderness, after flirting with Astarion.
Scene: Astarion will suggest he and the player sleep together. Afterwards, his Act One romance scene will play.
"There you are. I've been waiting."
Trigger: During a long rest while in the Wilderness, after being propositioned by Astarion prior.
Scene: Astarion's Act One romance scene. Astarion and the player will have intercourse. Afterwards, the player can ask about Astarion's scars.
"Here's my little treat with their cheeks all flushed. You will come to my bed tonight, won't you?"
Trigger: After sleeping with Astarion for the first time, and before his Act Two scene.
Scene: Astarion will proposition the player again.
"I hoped you would come."
A short scene will play after going to sleep.
"I can still taste that vile drow in my throat."
Trigger: After Astarion has met Araj Oblodra in Moonrise Towers. Proceeds differently depending on what happened with Araj.
Scene: Astarion will want to talk to the player after meeting Araj.
"I can't believe you let me do that. Killing all those people."
Trigger: During a long rest after completing Astarion's companion quest. Proceeds differently depending on how the quest is resolved – if Astarion ascended, remained a spawn, or if the player killed Cazador themself.
Scene: Concludes Astarion's romance arc, he and the player talk about their relationship.

Gale

Gale conjures an image of Mystra
Trigger: During a long rest in an Act One area.
Scene: Gale will discuss his past relationship with Mystra, and invite the player to channel the weave with him. Can be platonic.
"I must admit, the Crown of Karsus has occupied my every thought since we learned of it."
Trigger: During a long rest in Act Three. This scene will begin and proceed differently, depending on if Gale knows the origins of his orb, if he visited Mystra and how he responded to her, and if he has been given the book on Karsus.
Scene: Gale will bring the player to an illusory part of the Outer planes and discuss sharing his potential divinity.

Halsin

"I never quite realised how burdened I was, until I met you. The threat of the shadow curse, the politics of the grove..."
Trigger: During a long rest in Act Three, and after flirting with Halsin at least twice.
Scene: Halsin will want to speak to the player about becoming romantically involved. If the player is in any other romantic relationships, they can speak to their partners after the scene ends. Can remain platonic.

Karlach

"Psst! Hey soldier - you aren't asleep, are you?"
Trigger: During a long rest, if the player has an approval of at least 30 with Karlach. Will begin differently if it occurs during the tiefling party.
Scene: Karlach will tell the player how she feels about them, and talk about the logistics of kissing.
"I think the others are asleep. Hi."
Trigger: During a long rest, after Forging of the Heart was completed and Karlach's heart was upgraded.
Scene: Karlach and the player will talk, able to touch without anyone being injured.

Lae'zel

"Don't say a word. Just listen"
Trigger: During a long rest, after the first romance scene with Lae'zel.
Scene: Lae'zel tries to convince herself that her feelings for the player are justified. She will challenge them to combat.
"Tsk'va!"
Trigger: Automatically plays after the player and Lae'zel's fight scene ends.
Scene: Laz'zel will realise that she appreciates the player for their having her back, rather than their battle prowess.
"Get up. There's something you should see."
Trigger: During a long rest in the Lower City.
Scene: Lae'zel will discuss her relationship with the player. Dialogue choices made during this scene may effect her ending scene.

Minthara

"I was hoping to find you before you turned in for the night. My blood runs hot after the battle."
Trigger: After going to bed during the goblin raider celebration, if the player has neither accepted or rejected a proposition from Minthara.
Scene:Minthara will ask the player to sleep with her, the player may accept or reject her.
"You're here - good. Come with me."
Trigger: During a long rest right after the goblin raider celebration, if Minthara and the player made arrangements.
Scene: Minthara and the player will have intercourse. Afterwards, they will talk about the Astral Prism.
"In your dream, you stand over yourself as you sleep. A knife in your hand, murder in your heart."
Trigger: After the goblin raider celebration, and the player spent the night with Minthara.
Scene: Minthara ambushes the player, standing over them with a knife, about to kill them. She can be convinced to stop.

Shadowheart

"You made it. Come here - sit with me."
Trigger: After either the tiefling or goblin celebration, and the player has made arrangements with Shadowheart.
Scene: Shadowheart and the player will share a drink on a rocky overlook.
