Request for expansion[edit source]
Currently there is no way for the template to accommodate spells that deals multiple types of damage (Flame Strike comes to mind), I would suggest something like:
| damage1 =
| damage1 type =
| damage2 =
| damage2 type =
Also probably add "Weapon" to the damage type list, for smite-like spells. --HeliusNine (talk) 09:36, 30 July 2023 (CEST)
- The template also needs to be able to list multiple conditions. Expeditious Retreat for example grants two different conditions, one lasting one turn, the other until long rest. At the moment the template doesn't seem to be able to handle this. Fire Shield is another case of this. HeliusNine (talk) 08:00, 19 August 2023 (CEST)
Following changes have now been made:
- There's an
extra damage
parameter (and all the corresponding parameters for its type, modifier, etc.) for adding a second damage value. - I've now also added a
condition 2
family of parameters for a second condition. - The
damage
parameter can now handle the special valuesweapon
andhalf weapon
to say "Normal Weapon Damage" and "1/2 Weapon Damage" respectively. (Not sure the second is needed but it's implemented generically in the DamageInfo template so it works here as well.)
Subclass spells?[edit source]
Some subclasses get certain spells. Should that subclass be noted on the spell?
Cantrips/Spells "How to Learn" Need to Include Feats[edit source]
For example, Spell Sniper lets players learn a cantrip such as Bone Chill, thus a field should be dedicated to feats that allow players to learn spells and cantrips even without being a spell caster.
Range not optional?[edit source]
We now have spells in game that have no expressed range. Hellish Rebuke is an example. The template documentation states that range is optional, however removing range or its values breaks the template. Is range actually optional and can this be fixed? Azure Fang (talk) 23:32, 19 August 2023 (CEST)
Needs to be adjusted for Monk Spells[edit source]
Particularily Way_of_the_Four_Elements. Spell slot expendature needs to be Ki Points, and maybe the opening "level spell" needs to be adjusted to mention class in the case of monks? MetalPlateMage (talk) 13:10, 4 September 2023 (CEST)
- It looks like Monks use a separate list of spells and they aren't really spells (they don't have a School or Level) so we shouldn't be using SpellPage for them. We need a separate template for the various kinds of class-specific actions that expend class-specific resources: Arcane Recovery Charges, Bardic Inspiration, Channel Divinity, Channel Oath, Ki Points, Rage Charges, Sorcery Points, Superiority Dice, and Wild Shape Charges. (Warlock Spell Slots aren't mentioned as a separate thing because they function as regular spell slots in every way except that they recover on a Short Rest.)
- That being said, if we notice that there's a ton of overlap in the way the SpellPage template and the class-specific actions template are implemented, we could merge them into one template. (We're already about to expand this template to be able to handle item-specific and NPC-specific spells, some of which don't expend spell slots for example. But for now it will be limited to things that at least have a School and Level and as such are still spells in a sense.) I'd like to see someone finish the implementation of that template first, without thinking too much about compatibility, and then we should see if the compatibility comes naturally. Fair Enough - I removed my changes to the spells page as for monk stuff since we aren't considering those spells per se.
class-specific actions template would be nice but i think the guy said he didn't have enough time or something. It really needs to be done as currently it is messy divs clears and a bunch of other messy syntax. MetalPlateMage (talk) 20:06, 4 September 2023 (CEST)
