Replacement characters are characters who have been designed in one way or another to replace other already-existing characters in the event of rare edge cases, both expected and unexpected user scenarios, and sequence breaks.
An example of this is Roah Moonglow, whose death in Act One leads to her being replaced with Boss Friol in Act Three; killing Boss Friol in the Act Three sequence 
leads to her role in , and by extension Roah Moonglow's original role, being assumed by Trinoda instead.
