“Don't get me wrong, I like a wee gossip as much as the rest, but Caitlin does get a bit carried away with the tall tales.„
Involvement[edit | edit source]
Act Three[edit | edit source]
Carys can be found at the Elfsong Tavern in the Lower City. She warns the party not to believe anything from gossiper Caitlin, saying she is an "awful liar".
Idle banter[edit | edit source]
Caitlin: Broadsheet's rather dull today. Don't suppose you've learnt anything... juicier, of late, Carys?
- Carys: Afraid not - both the gossip and the Gazette have been drier than the Anauroch recently.
- Caitlin: It's a shame, Ettvard used to do such a good job running the Gazette.
- Carys: But these days it's hard to tell if I'm reading the Baldur's Mouth or Gortash's diary!
- Caitlin: Oh, come now, Carys, the broadsheet isn't that bad.
- Carys: I don't know, Caitlin, I've read the Mouth for years - this is the closest to a rag it's ever been!
- Caitlin: Oh, come now, Carys, the broadsheet isn't that bad.
- Carys: But these days it's hard to tell if I'm reading the Baldur's Mouth or Gortash's diary!
- Caitlin: It's a shame, Ettvard used to do such a good job running the Gazette.
Caitlin: Found anything interesting in today's broadsheet, Carys?
- Carys: Hah! Not of late - unless you want more lordly boot-licking - straight from the Baldur's Mouth!
- Caitlin: What about Estra's column? She always has something juicy in the Gazette.
- Carys: Even Estra's column has been lacking sauce of late... It's a real shame. It's not what it used to be, the Baldur's Mouth. Not at all.
- Caitlin: What about Estra's column? She always has something juicy in the Gazette.
If the Gazette publishes a positive article on the party:
Carys: Some real excitement in the Gazette this morning, Cait!
- Caitlin: Oh, what fantastic news - just as I was worried I'd have to find a new broadsheet.
- Carys: A group of heroical adventurers slew a necromancer! At least, according to the Mouth.
- Caitlin: I don't know, Carys. Could just be a tall tale - wouldn't be the first to cross the Gazette's pages.
- Carys: Oh, don't be a bore, Caitlin! Besides, it's better than another fluff piece about the Gate's nobility.
- Caitlin: I don't know, Carys. Could just be a tall tale - wouldn't be the first to cross the Gazette's pages.
- Carys: A group of heroical adventurers slew a necromancer! At least, according to the Mouth.
If the Gazette publishes a negative article on the party:
Caitlin: Say, Carys, did you read the gazette this morning?
- Carys: Indeed I did. But, dear Caitlin, not everything made it to print.
- Caitlin: No. You're telling me the Baldur's Mouth kept information back?
- Carys: Oh yes - you'll never guess what I heard about the vagabonds.
- Caitlin: Oh, do spill, Carys!
- Carys: They call themselves 'adventurers' - they've not slain a single dragon.
- Caitlin: Good gods, how scandalous!
- Carys: They call themselves 'adventurers' - they've not slain a single dragon.
- Caitlin: Oh, do spill, Carys!
- Carys: Oh yes - you'll never guess what I heard about the vagabonds.
- Caitlin: No. You're telling me the Baldur's Mouth kept information back?
