“ | If there is one thing Minsc hates more than beasts with bad breath - It is those who are tricksome with the truth! And turnips. But you are no turnip. Let that be of comfort, in your final moments. |

Act Three
During Act Three, should you arrive at the Counting House, and delve into the vaults, you will encounter Minsc, and a doppelganger imitating Jaheira, with Minsc revealing himself by tearing his way out of the maw of a Mimic. Some time before the party arrived in Baldur's Gate, he was infected by a Mind Flayer tadpole, leaving him under the influence of the Absolute, hence his strange involvement in a bank heist.
Recruiting Minsc
You will be able to recruit him later in the Lower City Sewers seemingly having his memory of Boo suppressed by the tadpole. You will need to fight him. Ensure that you are using Non-Lethal Attacks when landing the final blow, or Minsc will die, and Jaheira will leave your group.
Once defeated, Minsc will be assisted by the Mysterious Artefact, and be free from the Absolute's influence and you will be able to recruit him.

Trivia
- Minsc is voiced by Matthew Mercer, replacing Jim Cummings from previous games.
- Unlike other companions, Minsc, alongside Jaheira, was revealed in a trailer at the Video Game Awards 2022.
- It was revealed in an article that he and Jaheira will be recruitable, but won't be available as Origin Characters.
- Unlike Jaheira, who's stats remained fairly consistant through the games, Minsc's Ability Scores in Baldur's Gate 3 differ heavily from his stats from Baldur's Gate 1 & 2. In every game, he is depicted as immensely strong, being able to punch through walls and break himself out of cages - but despite this, his stats within Baldur's Gate 3 do not reflect this - likely due to the fact that while previous games use stat rolling, Baldur's Gate 3 uses 27 Point-Buy, as well as allowing his Ranger abilities to function more reliably via his wisdom
- The closest to his original statistics you can get using Baldur's Gate 3's system is to have STR 17, DEX 15, CON 15, INT 8, WIS 8, CHA 10. This leaves only STR and WIS as impossible to achieve at the start of the game, as his previous STR is 18 would require an ASI, and WIS his 6, which would be problematic for a Ranger in Fifth Edition.
