Naaber

From bg3.wiki

Naaber is a human that can be found in Carm's Garm. When entering the shop Naaber will try to get the players attention by hollering and running towards the player. If ignored Naaber will follow the player around and continue to pester them until engaged. However he will stay inside the shop or nearby vicinity.

Hello! Hi! Over here! Me!

Overview

Background

Naaber is a talkative adventurer who is trying out different classes to see which best suits.

Quest

Naaber has an unmarked quest:

  • Patience is a Virtue: We did the impossible - we listened to Naaber until he ran out of questions.

Involvement

Naaber is an aspiring adventurer, but hasn't yet decided what class he should be. Keep re-engaging and talking to him long enough and he will go through all the classes. (except druid, which is replaced with a dog) In the end he will have an epiphany, that multiclassing is a thing and concludes that he is a genius. Completing this miniquest, Naaber will be thankful for the conversation and reward the player.

The order in which Naaber tries classes is: Fighter; Barbarian; Bard; Cleric; Dog; Wizard; Warlock; Monk; Rogue; Ranger; Sorcerer; and Paladin.

Family

Naaber hails from a long line of talkative Noobers, who have also appeared in previous Baldur's Gate games. Using Speak with Dead on Naaber reveals that Noober is his great-grandfather, Nuuber (possibly Nüber) his grandfather and Niiber (possibly Neeber) his father.

Noober was the first of his kind, an annoyingly talkative man in the town of Nashkel in the first Baldur's Gate game. His name is a play on an slang word 'Noob'. He will follow the player spamming dialogue windows until either the player kills him or waits out all of his dialogue lines. This will give the player a reward in experience.

Neeber appears in Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn, in the town of Trademeet, and Nüber in Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear.

Loot

  • If killed, a tiny amount of gold can be looted.

Quest rewards

If the amulet was pickpocketed, he will instead reward:

Notes

  • When using Speak with Dead, Naaber will speak with his killer, and has no limit for questions asked. Instead, the Narrator will mention that "The spell's power wanes - but the spirit refuses to be silent."
